MAJOR MACYS VENT!!!!!!!!! updated with most of what the letter says...

Did anyone get a letter in the mail saying they are going to be re-doing a lot in their home store? Theya re going to do away with a lot of different brands, and some stuff on my registry will be affected....

I am going there tomorrow to find out if I need to register anything different or what the deal is....

I do not know what brands, it just said I got the letter because some stuff I registerd for was affected...I will let ya know tomorrow...

i registered at manhasset and i did not get a letter. i will give them a call tommorrow.

This is what it says:

Thank you for being a valued customer during this exciting phase in your life. We have more important news to share with you regarding your registry.

As part of this update, there are items that we will no longer be offering in the future. Unfortunately, some of your registry items are affected. And this must mean my future DIL will be looking at her registry again....after I bought her all her good china. I'm sure she may have peeked anyway, but now it's definite. Oh well!

At least they let you know and are still offering your items with special order. I hope it works out for you and that you can either find something else you love or a store that has what you liked.

I looked at my online registry and it did not mention anything. Silly question, but is the Macy's in RI downsizing or something?? So far, no one in NY (responding to this post) has received this letter.

I got the same letter and I live on long island, I think it's everywhere

it did say I was getting it becasue some thins on my registry were affected....so maybe not everyone is getting it if nothings being affected...

The letteris from Macys East, which includes RI, NY, NJ...etc....

You know what, Holly, I didn't get a letter, but a couple of weeks ago, JT and I decided we are canceling our registry there and redoing one at Bloomies and one at Bed, Bath, Beyond. I'm NOT thrilled with their selection as it is. I'm sorry

i didnt receive a letter but the same thing happned to me. i did a lot of registry on weddingchannel so i didnt have to go into the store. when people tried to purchase the items some of them werent available on the east coast in the stores and can only be purchased via the weddinf channel mail order or not at all. i had to go into the store months before my wedding to registry all over. i was very frustrated

Do you think its still a good idea to register there? I've been contemplating it. I think I would rather do Fortunoff's....not sure!

Yeah, I got an e-mail about this a few weeks ago. I was in there today and the woman told me that the reason they are doing this is because they are trying to make the inventory the same in Macy's East and West so that the problems described above don't happen as often. It only affected one item on my list (a chip and dip). If you go into the store, they can print you out a list of everything affected and help you pick something else to replace it.
