Is there anyone out there who is NOT taking a Honeymoon - at all? I don't mean just postponing it until a later date, I mean just not taking one - ever!
Not only do we have 3 kids (2 under the age of 5) to arrange childcare for, a vacation of any kind is just not in the budget. We have already had to cut our guestlist in half to afford the wedding itself!
Sorry - just had to vent. Hope there are others out there like me!

I have not made any plans for the honeymoon yet, and dont know if i will be taking one. However, don't feel obligated to take one. What about a one night stay somewhere, where your family or a friend can watch the kids and you and your man can relax with each other. It doesnt have to be somewhere expensive, and check with your RH maybe they get a discounted rate somewhere.

Re: Make me feel better - please!
We might not do a honeymoon. We will not know till next Jan if we can afford it. We have no kids but we really are not in a financial situation to be even have the wedding we are having now.
We are paying for it ourselves and every dime is going into it. Once the wedding is paid off which it will be a few months prior to the date (we will have the money for everything) we really need to focus on a home. So i rather put the money there and not do a honeymoon right away so when we do have money we can really have a nice honeymoon.
So i think in your case especially for kids its really not a horrible thing... its the sensible thing.

Thanks, unfortunately, we are having an outdoor wedding at a park!
Also, I have checked into various B&B's and hotels, motels and the like, but considering it's a summer weekend, they all have 2 or 3 night minimum stays!
I guess it won't hurt to keep looking though.

We are most likely not having one...We just bought a house and are paying for the wedding ourselves w/ a little help from my parents. At this point, a vacation is too expensive!

Re: Make me feel better - please!
we didn't take one. we moved to NC about 2 weeks after the wedding. we were very focused on starting our new life here and settling in and starting grad school and new jobs. plus, we didn't want to spend big bucks on a vacay at that time, either. so no honeymoon for us and we were fine with that! we are going on a disney cruise this october with some of my family, but i wouldn't call it a honeymoon, but rather our first vacay as a married couple. if you and you FH are fine with skipping the honeymoon (the ceremony is the important part, anyways, not the big party of vacation) then skip it. don't listen to what others have to say about it!

We were married in Jan of 06 and still have not gone on a honeymoon. And I don't see one in the near future either. Don't stress it. When the time is right, get away for a night or 2. It's not set in stone anywhere that a honeymoon needs to be some place exotic and 7 days long. It is what you make of it.

We cannot take a Honeymoon either. One reason is because of my job and the other reason is because we are going to be broke!
We are going to try and make it a special weekend and save the honeymoon until the summer!
I think going on my honeymoon right away would be a little chaotic for me. Too many plans!

I don't think I will be taking my honeymoon right after either, as I am a teacher.

If you decide you do want to do something many girls have already offered suggestions. You could also pack up the family and go to Beaches or Breezes which are AIs in the carribean.

We're having a small wedding and taking a 5 day vacation to Boston and Maine. The entire HM is going to cost us about $1200 not including food. Why don't you get a hotel in Manhattan for a night? It may be a two or three hundred bucks, but you can go out to a nice dinner, a show...and then back to the room...

I think that's a good idea! You'd only need to find a sitter for one night.

A wedding is NOT about the HM... it's all about the ceremony. The reception is just an added bonus! You are marrying the man of your dreams, the love of your life. You don't NEED a HM... one day at some point when you are settled and your kids are grown you can take a romantic vacation and consider it you 'HM'. No need to rush. You will have the best day of your life, that's all that matters!!!

We're getting married next month and we still don't know what we're doing if anything at all. I'd like to spend the wedding night in a hotel because I know our apartment will be chaotic. We will probably head to Rhode Island to a B&B for a few days and that is it.
Don't feel obligated to go on a honeymoon. 10yrs from now when the kids are older, and you can afford it, you can have honeymoon then. You have the resto f your lives. That's how I look at it.

I agree with Kim - take a night to go somewhere. There are lots of nice B&B's out east that are budget friendly, pretty, and romantic. But if even that isn't in the budget, you're not less married than a couple that takes a honeymoon. DO what's right for you.

Re: Make me feel better - please!
Well, I have decided that we are going to stay at The Blue Dolphin Resort in East Marion. They have a 3 night minimum so the first night it will be me and the girls and the other two it will be me and FH, who will be DH by then! That way, when all is said and done, we are still close to home and the kids, but can relax for a day or so before getting back into the swing of 'real' life, lol.
Thanks to all for your replies and suggestions. They really helped!
