I would do the full room uplighting because it will make your photographer's pictures of the room even better.
The montage can only be seen and enjoyed once.

I would totally go with uplighting! I had to convince my FH that we need uplighting to completely glam-up the room! Even if you have a stunning room, uplighting will just make it look that much more elegant. Besides, other than your family your future in-laws, no one will appreciate the slide show! In fact, they'll probably be bored and annoyed that they have to sit through it. My mom was all for the slideshow, but we put the kibosh on that asap! LOL
