Make up and hair

hello ladies.. so i'm wondering how would you tip..

the hair TRIAL will cost me $85 and make up TRIAL is $150. i'm thinking about tipping for the trials...

so for the wedding day...
the hair stylist for my wedding day.. total ladies including me will be the 6 of us. that comes out to $650

the make up artist she's charging $900 for all of us.

since they both own their own biz... do i still tip them? if so... how much? the price they are charging is $$$ already... what would you do? i read from the martha stewart website etiquette that you're not suppose to tip the person if they own their own biz.. please help!! TIA!!

I don't know the official answer, but I have heard the same thing, that you don't tip the person if it's their own business.

Someone told me this a while ago when I was getting my hardwood floors refinished, so it had nothing to do with wedding vendors. But I think it would be the same etiquette across the board.

You technically don't have to tip the owner of a business. However, for these hair and m/u people, I don't really consider them as a business as many just run out of their homes.

Personally, I still tip 20% for the service they provided. And I ESPECIALLY tip after the trial b/c I don't want them to be angry or anything at me before they do my hair/mu for my wedding. A few extra $$s can go a long way.
