Re: make-up trial how much to tip??
It depends how well of a job they do, if it is 75 dollars, you can tip 10 maybe?. But some people do not tip at all because it is just a trial. My trial was 80, I tipped 10 even though I wasn't too crazy about it
Personally, I don't see why you have to tip for a trial unless the trial is by someone who works for a salon. But if its their own business, I don't really think you are expected to give the standard 15-20%.
$100 for a trial is kind of high. I wouldn't tip anything. I'd wait until the wedding and then I'd give them a tip.

My trial was 75. I liked her and want to book her so I gave her 100 (she used airbrush and lashes so..).
If you really like her, another 20 will go a long way

JMO- I wouldnt tip anything. As far as I'm concerned the whole tipping thing is out of control. You are already paying for the trial. I wouldnt tip a DJ or Photog for meeting with them and seeing thier work.

ok that sounds good...because she is the owner as well & I am going to her studio so it's ok not to? I just don't want to look rude..but I guess that makes sense day of she'll obviously be coming to me so then I would tip?

It doesn't look rude at all IMO. If she was giving you a really good deal on a trial, I'd say throw in an extra $10 or so.. but like I said $100 is a bit high for a trial. I would tip the day of the wedding.

I tipped 20% for the trials, especially if I was booking them, even though it was their own businesses.
IMO I just feel that people remember when they get a decent tip, and I feel that they put more into their service (partly because they'll get another tip on the day of!)
