make-up trials.... Do you tip?
I just booked my first make-up trial with Kristen from Enchante and I was wondering if you tip the person doing the trial. (my gut says you do, but I just want to make sure.) Also,if anyone had any tips/advice on her, or make-up trials, I would really appreciate them. I have heard good things about Kristen (except for her prices) but if everything I have heard is true about her prices being less on sundays, then it doesn't really matter to me. Thank you, Kelly :OP

If the artist works at a salon, and the salon is getting the bulk of the fee, then you tip the makeup artist (as you would do with a hairdresser). However, if the makeup artist works for him/herself, then use your discretion. If they are very accommodating, for example by traveling a distancei to your home, etc. then a tip might be nice. But remember, they are keeping the entire trial fee for themself and not sharing it with a salon.

I`m sorry I don`t know the etiquette regarding tipping, but can you clarify something for me? I, too, am having a trial with Kristen..I have been trying to call her to find out about the prices (since hearing they have gone up, I`m a little nervous), but we haven`t been able to touch base. You heard something about her prices being 'less' on Sunday? Is that true? I haven`t heard that mentioned here and I`m just wondering... And if it`s true, what are her 'sunday' prices?!! thanks! :) JOY

Kristen is less on Sundays because she doesn't work for the salon on Sundays. It would be a private booking. The rest of the week she is working for the salon so her services are charged at their rates, not her own. Her prices vary depending on whether or not you go to the salon. If you want her to come to you the morning of the wedding the salon doubles her normal fee to cover travel time, and time out of the salon. Her basic prices are $75/hair and $50/makeup. Double if you want her to travel to you. Trials are about $45 for hair, not sure about makeup. She is really good. Make sure to take photos of your trials. Also a tip she gave me is to wear a white or ivory shirt with a similar collar and sleeve as your gown. That way you can really see what your hair will look like. Also, make sure you voice your opinions and talk with her or any other vendor about what you want. It is really important if you do not like your eye makeup to speak up and explain why. That way she can change it for you. Post photos when have them. And yes, you should tip her while she is in the salon or if you travels to your home. Owners of a business are not normally tipped.

Yes, I did hear that on the boards. A search would probably bring it up, however I am going on the 20th and will ask her to make sure. I will let you know what the outcome is. Any other info/quest, you can email me at [email protected] kelly :PWelcome New Vendors
