Make Up (vent)

Re: Diana

I have a trial with Jackie (prettyme.com) this week so I do not have first hand experience working with her, but on the phone she sounded very nice and professional. But I will say that most vendors will not hold dates without a deposit. I mean a photographer may be available on your wedding date when you first call, but the next day someone books him. That must happen all of the time. What should the vendor do? You might not book them after a meeting or trial and then they have just given up business. For me, as long as the vendor calls me before I get the appointment I am okay with it. Again, JMO.

She might have thought that her origional appointment might not show up or that that bride was just shopping and probably wouldn't book so why decline any other brides appointments. She probably meant no harm. She could have told you she had a tentative but still met with you. We all make mistakes. She has a real good reputation.

Re: Make Up (vent)

My point is this, which I think you may have missed:
>I called FIRST; she had noone else interested in the date.
>She emailed and asked when I needed her as she may now have someone else also interested.
>I told her my time, and asked her advice, but she never returned my email. She never emailed to say that I may lose the date because the other person was beating me to the trial.
>The other person, who called after me, had her trial a day before me. How was I to know?
>She never told me about a deposit to hold the date.
>She never mentioned a deposit at all.

When I booked my caterer, they held the date for a week so we could decide. Seems they had more money to lose than any of my other vendors, and they didn't even ask for a deposit to do so.
Even the jeweler held our rings for 3 days without a deposit so we could look around a bit more.
When I schedule my patients and I have someone interested in a date and time, I tell the second person who calls that I have a potential patient for that day, and that if the time becomes available, I will let them know.

Re: Make Up (vent)

I have to be honest, only my photographer, Mark Kauffman, had a refundable deposit. My hall, The Hamlet, and every other vendor I dealt with didn't allow a refund once the deposit was made. I know a girl who called Bridal Reflections 2 days after placing her order to cancel the dress because she found another she loved more, and they told her sorry but the dress was already ordered. Perhaps she never got your e-mail, I know that happens sometimes. I just think that all of our vendors are business people and as such book whoever signs first, same in any business. You are very lucky to deal with so many vendors that give you extra time to decide.

Most vendors won't hold dates after you have visited them but I find that most will pencil you in until you have had a chance to see what you can offer. In the event another bride wants to book that day, they call you and will tell you that you have right of first refusal but you must decide.

My hall held the date until I could come visit, my band held the date until I had a chance to mail them a check, etc..

I don't think its an unforgiveable offense and Im sure she didn't mean any harm. But I think the practice of booking a trial with a bride for a date, and then booking that date without at least warning her is very inconsiderate. Of course she is a business woman and no one would expect her to turn down a paying customer for one that is just shopping, but she could have called her to tell her another bride wanted to book her date before doing so.

Re: Make Up (vent)THIS IS TO LI WEddiNGS

WHy did my post get deleted????

Jacqueline NIcole posted on this board on this thread that Diana was hung up and she was smearing her name, I responded to that post and now I come back and her post is deleted and my response to her posting here is deleted. Could someone please explain to me what it going on????

Isn't this where we are supposed to come and share our opinions, my post was in no way offensive to anyone, I just stated to her that she needs to make it clear that this is her policy to anyone that calls her to make an appt for a trial. She said that Diana is smearing her reputation. I think by her sending us emails and posting in the bride section she did that on her own. I believe that Diana had all right to be upset and if she felt like sharing it with us that is what this section is here for.

Brides are going with a vendor no matter what we say. People make up their minds by how they feel on these things. Jacqueline Nicole had no right posting here and LI weddings I need an explanation as to why my response was deleted

Thanks

Re: Make Up (vent)THIS IS TO LI WEddiNGS

I missed that post, but got it in email. She also attributed someone else's words to me.

I am not the first to post something negative about a vendor. If this board is only for positive posts, I am not aware of that. I have seen reams of negative posts about vendors of every type on this board.

When I have a good experience with a vendor, I post about it.

As for being 'hung up,' that is her opinion, and she is welcome to it. As well, I am welcome to mine.

Shamma - I saw your post and it was not offensive in the least!

I can see why JN deleted her post but I don't see why LIWedding deleted yours.

Stef, yours was deleted as well.

Re: Make Up (vent)

Maybe when she deleted her post the messages trailing it were deleted. No big deal. She probably realized she had posted on both boards by mistake. She is a sweet heart and my best friend used her for her wedding and she is awesome at what she does. My friend said she always went out of her way and even put some cosmetics on her flower girl. Good Luck to you all. And Smile.

Re: Make Up (vent)

Vendors should have a clear policy regarding deposits and availability (i.e. first come, first serve) that is stated up front to prospective clients. She should have made it clear to you that to hold that date, you need a deposit.

As for LI weddings deleting posts, I would like to know why posts are being deleted...these boards are for us, we should have access to all messages.

Re: Make Up (vent)

I stood up for you too DianeL, but my post was deleted along with Shamma.
I told Jackie, that her manner with you was very unprofessional and that if I was a bride, looking for makeup, I wouldn't hire her after her post! How crazy, she wasn't allowed to post here, and yes, we should be allowed to say what we want, as long as it's honest!
She's a paying vendor, that's why they deleted our posts. But without us, there would be no vendors on this board!!!

Our new employee deleted some posts by mistake. I'm having the programmer restore them. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Re: Make Up (vent)

Funny... I didn't even realize my was deleted as well. Im glad LIweddings is restoring them but this is certainly NOT the first time this has happened. It seems to happen a lot when vendors get honest but negative feedback.

Ive posted negatively about at least one vendor but when I got to search for it, it was gone!

Re: Make Up (vent)

Stef, I know what you are talking about, it seems as if they have a lot of new employees, my it makes me wonder, how many other post this new employee deleted This is not the first time for me either Stef so join the bandwagon

Hi girls-
Another observation--
I was on the vendor board yesterday looking at this posts, and Jacqueline Nicole posted there defending her business. Seems that post is now deleted as well.

Re: Make Up (vent)

This has really gotten silly

First - Jackie deleted her own posts in an effort to stop the sillyness.

Second - my new employee (the first new employee in over a year) accidentally deleted a few posts while we were training her. The deletions happened on other threads as well. They have been restored.

Third - After speaking with Jackie and hearing both sides we can see where you might have taken some of what she said out of context. As an example, when someone says that another hangs up the phone - this does not mean that someone hung up on them. It means the phone was placed back into the set and the connection was therefore broken.

Fourth - as you know it's never our intention to get involved with the discussions on this board. The only reason we are in this case is because so many have emailed us asking us to remove the entire thread so everyone can just get back to their lives. So as of this point we are not going to remove the thread but lock it thus preventing any more posts to it.

If you have any questions please use the forum mail to send us a message.
