makeup $$

Hi All,

Getting married this September and looking into makeup artists. A friend of mine is the assistant to a celeb makeup artist that I love and was quoting me $500 for JUST me for the day. Is that CRAZY?

The trial alone is $150.

I wasn't sure if these quotes were outrageous or on target. If you have any quotes you want to share please FM me.

But it is a great makeup artist too. This is the problem... I think too big! Then it make my pockets small

whoa, thats a lot!

I booked with Mya at Cosmetic Artistry for $125 for make up...but our wedding is on the same day...so that doesn't help you too much. Just wanted to share the quote!

$500 is WAAAAY too much. You can use that extra money on something else (or just save it). Ultimately, it's neat to have a celeb makeup artist BUT it's just not worth it.

To help you compare prices, my makeup artist is $90 and i had a free trial (and my BMs are $65 each)

That's a lot. Even the trial fee is high.

You could go for a couple of trials for less than the price of her trial and see if you like how those come out.

Five hundred beans on something like makeup is a lot IMO.

She's your friend, she can't hook you up? Geez!

eta: not 'hook you up' as in 'do it for free', but at least not fcuk you up the @ss with the price!

eta2: My trial was $50 pre-tip; $100 day-of for makeup.

IMO - I dont care who it is. You can use that money for much more useful things than your makuep. Just because they do celebrities? Who cares? You can find someone to do your makeup for five times less and still look AMAZING!

Bring a picture of your 'celebrity artist' trial, give it to an experienced makeup artist and see how well they match up .. Bet they look the same.

wow... um if you were my friend i would never quote you that much. she's an assistant too... she shouldn't charge that much!

this is why as soon as she told me her prices on the phone, i was like welp, that's too much for me sorry.

ha. I was thinking that it was a little pricey. I was just nervous about looking like a clown that day and then having all of those GREAT pics with me looking like Ronald.

Now that is crazy!!

The day of my wedding it will cost me $125. I did e-pic make-up which cost me $35 and the wedding trial was sort of free. Had to purchase something, so I got something for about $28.00.

I think $150 for the trial and $500 for the day of, is a bit too much. IMO.

Ummm that's INSANE. You can get reallllly excellent makeup done for $125-150! Possibly less!

I paid $50 for trial and it's $125 day of for her to travel to me. Andrea, Lola Loves Makeup...she's a vendor on here & AWESOME!

500 is wayyy too high for makeup only, even for makeup AND hair. I mean if you have the budget for it, fine. If not, there's way too much talent out there to pay that much. You can definitely find someone else.

i am paying A LOT TOO! DEFINATELY more than average but still not $500 and they are celebrity/tv people makeup artists too.

i do have to say though as much as i adore them, i think i couldve gotten someone maybe just as good for a little less but i budgeted for it so i went for it.

if you were really set on going with her, and you had it in the budget, i would still negotiate that if you go to the trial and you book, the 150 goes toward the day of so it will only be 350
