I know a lot of brides on the board are using Elena. But, from what I've heard she takes a very long time to create your 'look' on the day of your wedding. You might want to try Paula Young. She did my Mom's make-up for my wedding, and she did a really great job. Another perk - Paula swears it NEVER rains on her brides, and on the day of my wedding, her theory came true! Despite the forecast of thunderstorms, we had a beautiful, sunny day with a breath-taking sunset. So, if you're superstitious at all... Her number is 516-536-6592.

I just had a trial with Elena and was very happy. I can't say how long it takes on the day of the wedding but she didn't take all that long at the trial.

Paula Young is the best!
I've used her 3 times before as a bridesmaid and now in April, I will use her when I'm a bride! She's awesome! She recommends Carol to do hair. Her # is 599-2091 I have a trial with Carol on Feb. 9th. Lisa

Kim- Our ceremony doesn't start until 4:30. That's funny that you booked Elena, because I called her and she said she's booked for my date -I guess that's you ;-) But she did recommend someone named Colleen who I will contact.

I also booked Elena
I had one trial with her a few months ago. My wedding is not until Nov.2,2002. She really listened to what I liked and did not like. She may take a bit longer than some, but that is okay with me. I am not in any hurry. I plan to have a second trial in Sept. to finalize everything and see how my hair looks with my headpiece.

For Nina - Costs...(little long)
Paula Young charges approx. $100 for the bride's make-up application. However, she may work with you on prices, if you plan to have her do other people's make-up (like Mom, BM's or grandmother). If you use Paula, you would have to find someone else to do your hair. You need to decide what your needs are on the day of your wedding and what is most important to you. Then you can find options that are either more or less expensive. For example, I chose to do my own make-up and had my regular hairdresser do my hair. I only spent $120 on the day of my wedding. My friend is using Elena for her wedding, and she's paying almost $300 for hair/make-up. But, it's important to her that Elena stays with her until after her first dance. You see, it's all about what makes you the most comfortable and stress-free on the day of your wedding! Good luck!

2nd trial with Elena???
How much does Elena charge for a 2nd trial? I had my trial with her last Friday and was very happy with my hair, but would like to go over the makeup (colors) again. She was just so great!!

Kristen @ Enchante Salon & Day Spa - Highly Recommend!!
When I was looking for someone, it was recommended to me from someone here to try Kristen .. though she was at a different salon at the time. Since, she has moved to Enchante Salon and Day Spa in Smithtown. Anyway, she did an awesome job on my hair and makeup the day of my wedding, as well as on my mom, sister-in-law (MOH) and niece (flowergirl). Our makeup looked flawless and natural, and felt very light. I now also use her for regular haircuts, and have never been happier with my hair. She makes everything seem like 'no problem' and that`s exactly how it all turned out. I`ve written several posts about her and how happy I was with everything, if you want to do a search to read more. Kristen Enchante Salon & Day Spa 220 West Main Street Smithtown (631) 979-2300

Costs and more...
I've been shopping around for someone to come to my house. Prices for Elena/Pauline-type folks are $250-300 for hair and makeup for the bride. Other quotes have fallen around $65-175 (makeup only) $75-150(hair only) These are prices for the brides. BM, MOB prices tend to range between $65-100 for makeup, $75 for hair. I'm still looking if anyone has additional suggestions. I'm meeting with Paula next time I'm in NY, but more suggestions (especially for hair)are welcome.Welcome New Vendors
