makeup artist lockout...venting

well not that we got locked out of the room for makeup artist. its nice to know that vendors read our responses maybe they will understand that we work hard for our money and do not like to be taken advantage of with prices. i know from calling around that $190 is alot for makeup for a wedding. thanks girls for all your help with names of people to call. i actually got a call from a really nice makeup artist named maria from a soft touch she was very understanding and accomidating. she put me at ease when she said she doesnt charge a holiday fee. its nice to know people are out there to help not just make a quick buck.

I am sorry but I do agree with Stacy.

I was just recently at an event where Ron and Liz were their and they take this site and their vendors very seriously. When someone posts do not use a vendor it hurts them and this site. But if you post, bad experience with a place and vent about the person and then ask that if anyone wants to know who that person is to FM you that is fine. I myself have put dont use someone and the post was removed. I later learned why it was removed so now if I have a bad experience I put bad experience with limo, make up, etc...then I vent about my situation and tell the girls to FM me.

This way it doesnt hurt a vendor and its not considered slander.

I am sorry if I sound mean or against the thread, but I hope you understand Ron and Liz work very hard for this site and its our responsibility to make it enjoyable for the vendors as it is for us.

I agree with what LIW did. if you don't like the prices fine - don't use the person. There are plenty of vendors on here that I could go off on if I was simply looking at their high prices. But I just choose not to use them.

It's wrong to state that no one should use a certain vendor based on their price - you hadn't even met her or checked out her work.

In the future, I hope you'll critique vendors on their services, and not just on their price. If you like someone, brag, if you don't, vent - no need to tell others not to use the vendor though. That's just wrong.

I think you should still be able to name vendors you're unhappy with, but telling others not to use them is a problem.

Also you claimed she tried to 'rip you off' when really she was just expensive. It was an inflammatory post so it was locked.

But you shouldn't be afraid to post negative comments about a vendor in the future. This board is only of value when we know the good and the bad.

Re: makeup artist lockout...venting

thank you i will use my words is a wiser way. she had inflated prices and did not fit my budget or needs as i had not expected to pay a holiday fee.

Lisa: I guess its me but I dont like to name the vendor publically because I know girls may use that vendor or that vendor may read the boards so I dont want to insult or hurt anyone. So I just post my bad experience and if anyone wants to know the vendor they can feel free to FM me. Others may feel fine with saying the persons name and that is fine as well. I just dont like to publically hurt someone because I had a bad experience

I think badmouthing people is one thing, posting your feelings is different.

I think the words 'ripping off' made it sound like she was cheating her on purpose, not that she is just expensive.

Even so, I would not have ruled out that makeup artist based on Corrines post. I looked at the price, but I would make my own judgement.

Corinne,
I disagreed with your original comments but I really think its great how you have since responded to the comments and suggestions given by the ladies here. Obviously you are new to the board and were just stating your opinion in your own way. Its nice to see someone not get crazy and fly of the handle when advice is given or things are explained.
