I was shocked when the makeup artist who's doing my trial said she charges $175 for the big day makeover!! Please tell me this is too much!!

It's definitely more than most LI vendors but it's not insane. There are a few who are $500 and up for the day of. I'm paying more than $175 but mostly b/c I had a really hard time trying to find a MA who travels to Queens and does airbrush.

Was the trial at least free?

Funny you posted this, I just got off the phone with a m/u artist. She charges $130 for the day of. I was going to put a post to see if it's comparable. The trial is free for me b/c she is a friend of a friend.

One lady wanted 175 but that was only because her trial was free. I might end up paying that amount including tip. It's actaully going to cost me much more if I include the 55 dollar trial. It's a lot of money and they know we want to look good.

I guess it is ok since my hair dresser is doing my hair for $35 as a favor to a friend. Anyway, the m/u artist works at Bobbie Brown in Neiman Marcus, so although the trial is 'technically' free, I'll probably be guilted into buying something. Weddings are so darn expensive!

I have seen/talked with a couple who charge $250, but the before & after pics on both of their websites look amazing. That does seem extremely high to me though!

Mine's $250, so no I don't think that's too much.

I'm paying $200 for my makeup and any other girls (bridesmaids or moms) are $75 each.

I chose to use someone using and representing a particular makeup brand because I'm allergic to other foundations.

I think that's on the higher end of 'normal' pricing for this, whatever normal means in the wedding world.

It's higher than others, but not insane. I know one I am considering I think is $300 the day of.

It's not so much as ripping you off, there are some MU artists that charge that much, and even higher! It's DEMAND, DEMAND, DEMAND....did you see how much Pedala charges? I wanted her, b/c her work is PHENOMINAL, but um, yeah, she charges like $200+
