Original post by Soon2BLIgirls

I was shocked when the makeup artist who's doing my trial said she charges $175 for the big day makeover!! Please tell me this is too much!!

is it airbrush or regular makeup? For airbrush, I think it's right on target.

Thats a little much but since she works for Neimen Marcus with Bobbi Brown I would say its normal.

I got a quote for a girl who worked at Mac for $150.

There are artists that charge less than that but there are also alot that charge that much and more. So I wouldnt say shes ripping you off.

My make-up is $135 the day of for airbrushing. I went to someone else for a trial and she charges $300 for the airbrushing. From my experience calling around it goes for anywhere from $100-$300. I don't really think that $175 is to unreasonable. It sounds about right.

I agree that is nuts.. Who does she think she is J-lo's makeup artist.

J. Lo probably wishes her makeup artist was that cheap!

That is absolutely out of control. I suggest to keep looking.

I agree it's a bit steep, but a few things to consider.... Does she do a free trial or charge for trial? What type of products? Is she traveling to you? I am paying more than I thought I would ($250) but in my moment of whatever, I thought it was worth it to not worry about having to do it myself and having complete confidence in that person on that day. I'm not saying that it *is* worth it, I think it just depends where you decide to spend on one thing versus another.... But you can find great people for a lot less I bet!

i think mine was $175 (with free trial and also a bobbi brown person) but i had several trials with cheaper ppl and let me tell you, she was 100x better than any of them and worth every penny!!!!

I paid 150 last year for my makeup with Clarin Cohen and she was worth it in my opinion. From other friends that have gotten married, that seems to be about the going rate.

It depends on how you like her/his work and if you have the $$$. Having confidence in your MU artist is priceless.

That is not too much-mine was $150 for makeup and $150 for hair!
