I would like to know the answer to this, too. I'm still undecided as to which way I want my makeup done.

Does anyone know if airbrush good for acne prone skin??

I've done both and I loved airbrush. I felt it was lighter and gave my skin a flawless look. It's also great when the weather is warmer because it doesn't rub off and keeps oilier skin in control. I have acne prone skin and I thought it was wonderful.

Re: Makeup: Foundation vs. Airbrush

ok i dont have the exact definition, i have that at home...but basically airbrush is an oil based foundation, that they put in a spray device to apply to your face, the rest of your make up is done by hand, i think alot of people confuse this, its only the foundation.

How a MU artist applies it can make a difference depending on the pressure they use and different factors.

The thing about airbrush is that you cant have any oil products beforehand or oily skin bc this is when it will run, it wont be the MU artists fault or the make up. When you wash your face before doing it, use soap and cleansers without any oil in it, be careful if you put any moisturizer on afterwards. Your face should be as dry as possible...its like painting an oil painting on an oil canvas, it will melt. Also some MU artists who are not that experienced with airbrush will put the wrong settings on which is what will mess it up so make sure if you get airbrush you go to someone with alot of experience

this is also why i think SOOO many people have different opinions about which one to use...if you have oily skin it wont stay as well, if you have dry skin it will stay on better.

airbrush is supposed to feel lighter on your face and also photographs better

i ultimately went with regular makeup-- the airbrush make up I thought was 'too hot'-

you can however mix the two-- do a regualr foundation and then do the airbrushing for the eyes etc... but like the PP said-- make sure you go to someone who does it regularly :)

<~~~Makeup Artist here........here are some notes
Airbrush Makeup= Silicone based makeup that is applied in a thin layer through an airbrush gun. Although there are some brands that do a water based, you would want to stay away from those because they dont have the wear that silicone does. They are water and transfer proof. It has about a 12 hour wear time too it. It is great on all skin types. Its the same makeup they use to do body painting.
Regular makeup= Can be many differnt formulas, most are either oil or water based. They dont have the wear that sirbrush has. If you know how to apply it, it can last a very long time. Most are not sweat proof or transfer proof althought there are some that are.
For my own wedding as a makeup artist with all the knowledge I have I chose Airbrush makeup and I was super happy that I did!!!!
I hope I helped !!!! Feel free to FM me with questions! Good Luck to you girls!!!

Re: Makeup: Foundation vs. Airbrush

Thanks ladies. Heres my problem. I had a MU trial with reg makeup. No mind you, I HATE makeup. I really dont wear much. When I had it done I hated it...but the more I look at the pics, the more it doesnt seem so bad. I was thiking abou tjust doing my own. Maybe getting that bare minerals foundation so I dont look shiny in my photos but other then that I dont really have bad skin so I dont need to conver a lot up.
Anyway, MY FH hated the way my face looked. He saw my like 5 hours later and told me I looked old and dry. Do you think Airbrush will look different?
Do you think it would be bad to do my own makeup?

its not just about having bad skin, for one it will give a different look, and can help brighten eyes and bring out features, not only that but bc of the flash of a camera you can look washed out so thats why some make is good, depending on your skin tone

you did a great job doing your make up ...the one difference i do see is that with professional make up your eyes stand out more

I think you did a great job with your own make-up. I do suggest you do up your eyes a little bit more to make them stand out.

airbrush almost feels like you have nothing on, and it STAYS on for the night. I definetly prefer it over regular foundation. If u have someone great do it, it shouldn't budge. My makeup stayed on till the next morning - no joke! through sweat, through tears.....I literally had to scrub mine off at the end of the night with a wash cloth when i washed up. Mia from brida llounge.com is amazing. you will not be dissapointed!!!! and ps: it makes your skin look flawless....almost like a porcelain look :)

I like airbrush b/c it stayed on for sooooooo long and i agree it was so hard to wash off it was crazy, but i love that it stayed on for so long! It also makes your skin look really even.

However, this is the thing, my skin started to get a little oily later on throughout the night and i told my MU artist this. I have combination skin so she said shes glad i told her this b/c she is going to use a oil controling gel on me before applying my makeup. She also mentioned that my face should be completely dry and not to wear moistureizer as to avoid the oil build up.

i have my trial with her on thursday, did she say which cleansers are best to use beforehand? Or does she have anything there bc i am going straight after work and will have make up on but will have to wash it off. TIA

Re: Makeup: Foundation vs. Airbrush

I did both and I decided to go with regular make-up. I don't wear a lot of face make-up normally either and my skin is dry. The airbrush was too much. It looked cakey on me later in the day and was flaking off of my face. I don't think it has anything to do with the MU vendor either b/c she is very popular on this site and everyone uses her for airbrush. I just think it was a combo of my skin and my tolerance. It also made my face itchy.

I guess it just comes down to your skin and what you are used to. BTW, I think you did an awesome job on your mu for your e-shoot and I like it better than the trial.
