I am having trouble finding someone for my makeup - I'm contemplating just doing it myself, but I'd REALLY rather not have that stress that day. (Besides, there is a reason why these people are professional and I am not) ANYWAY, I went for a trial w/ Oksana who I LOVED, but I didn't really like the makeup. - Everyone I go to insists on making my eyes AND lips very dark and heavy. - I know I need a little extra 'oomph' that day, but I can't carry dark, smokey eyes. - I have small, light eyes .........and a VERY traditional gown...........Any ideas ??? Suggestions ??? Sorry SO LONG !!!

Re: Makeup Issues
I wish I could help, I can't find anyone, either. My sister has the same problem, people keep playing up her eyes because they're big, but it looks ridiculous on her. All the make-up artists she's gone too seem to think they know what's best. Which is fine, but when she looks terrible, they obviously don't know. Maybe do your own make-up in the way you think you want it to look, take a picture, then ask for them to recreate a similar look.

Re: Makeup Issues
I highly recommend my make up lady. She does what you want and how you want it.
I had a problem with make up artists being sanitary. I am so skeevy and didn't want to use the make up someone else was using as well. My lady uses all sealed brushes including mascara which is never dipped twice.
My first trial went very well but I am scheduling another with her because I want to try and different 'look'. The best part is...the trials are free!!
FM me if you need her contact info. I have it at home.

Re: Makeup Issues
Did you get a trial from Jillian at Gorgeous Faces? She is amazing, I'm sure you'd love her!
You definitely don't want to do it yourself - you'll be worrying about how it looks and then you'll have to do a ton of touch ups b/c you won't be using professional make up. You don't need that stress!

Re: Makeup Issues
I know everyone says you need a little extra 'oomph' on your wedding day, but that's totally not me. I wasn't thrilled with the heavy makeup I was getting in trials, so I went to a Clinique counter and had the girl do my makeup. I bought a lot of the products she used (I already owned some) and did my own makeup on my wedding day. So many people commented on how great it looked, and it looks flawless in pictures. I wasn't really worried on the day of, I just practiced a few times before the wedding. I feel that it was one of the best decisions I made.

Re: Makeup Issues
Maybe try going to a Bobbi Brown counter? They're pretty well known for doing a more 'natural' look. I'm very picky about makeup also. I went to one makeup counter to be done over by a *national* makeup artist and I ended up looking like either a hooker or a drag queen--maybe a drag queen who's a hooker
If you decide to do the makeup yourself, here's what I know about keeping a look natural but making small eyes appear larger. Ttry using a gray eyeliner instead of black or brown and lift it slightly at the outer corners to make eyes look more 'open'. This will emphasize your eyes but won't make them smaller. Also, use a white eyeliner on the bottom inside rim of your eyes. Place a white shadow or highighter on the inside corner of your eyes as well. Hope this helps!

The woman at the clinique counter actually came to my house the day of my wedding to do my makeup. i've been using their makeup for year and thats what i liked about it. the trial was free and i went to the mall and went through all their selections. i would hightly recommend it.

Yes- check to see if she is available. Also, why not bring pictures of make-up looks that you like for a make-up artist to get an idea of how you want your make-up to look

Re: Makeup Issues
Try telling them you want a light, natural look. I don't really like dark lipstick myself. Perhaps try a pinkish or neutral lipstick? Tell them you do not want heavy eye makeup. I've had this happen in the past that even though I told them, heavy eye makeup was what I got. If you have small eyes, I think a light color eyeshadow is best, and I think it's good to have some sort of white eyeliner to make your eyes pop out with just a little black eyeliner. Nothing too dark, but just a little.
