Is $225 too much for the bride? The girl I am going to is good and I know her personally, so I feel bad finding someone else - but that and hair will bring me up to probably $375-400, and I think that sounds like a lot.
What are you guys paying, if you don't mind me asking?

i know the person - 85 per person (including me) - i plan on tipping him well though since he is coming from staten island....
i think 150 for the bride is probably average and then maybe 65-100 for others....
maybe she can just do your make up and have someone less expensive for your girls? for makeup - if i love the way the person does it - i will pay anything

For my sister, if we decided to get hers done, it's only $65! I thought $150 was average, and that is what I was expecting, honestly - or even less since I know her. Some people I have recommended her to said she was a lot of $ but I didn't think she was THAT much. And she is good - but I don't know if she is that good. My mom is paying for this and I think she will FLIP.
I will have to ask her if she can come down because that's a lot more than I expected. AND, she already lowered it $25 for me!
I hope I don't have to find someone else. I do not want to go through trials again.

That seems like a lot for make-up for one person--mine I think was 100 for the bride....

I think I am spending $245.00 for makeup for 4 people. Hair is free....FSIL is a hairdresser.

Thanks girls. I just emailed her and said that from what I have heard, the typical rate is about $150 ... and I asked her if she could come down at all. I'll let you know what she says. It's hard because I know her - not terribly well but she does the makeup for our commercials (i work for a prod. co.) and I have worked with her for a few years now, whenever we need a makeup girl. She's the only girl I went to for m/u and I kinda gave her the benefit of the doubt because I knew her. Now I feel like I should have asked a long time ago! It's almost too late to find anyone else at this point.

Wow, Jen, that sounds REALLY high!!!
I am paying obscenely low prices though b/c the girl I am using is not a vendor on here... she does hair and makeup as a side business. She charges the same price for the bride and all the girls (except kids) - $30 for makeup and $45 for hair on the day-of. I will prob give her an even $90 or $100.

that sounds high to me, but then again for others that'll be a normal rate. i used fresh face forward, loved them, and they were a lot less than that. their prices are on their website (along w/ a pic of me ).

my makeup was $175 and she came to me. And the trials were free.

its not too late at all. Think of all the makup artists that work at MAC, Bobi Brown, and other places like that!

I just went to the site, before you even posted this, and saw you! Their prices are good but it would kill me to shell out another $50 for a trial when I paid my girl $110 for 2 trials already!!!! I am beginning to think she is just wayyyy overpriced (she mostly does commercials, not bridal, maybe that is why).
