Re: makeup trials
I booked on the spot-she did a fabulous job. I didnt tip much at all really b/c she is the owner. If you want to be sure-just tell her that. Just say I want to make sure I love it and run it past a few people first before I decided definitely.

Re: makeup trials
I think it's supposed to be 15-20% of the fee. (like a hair salon) I wouldn't feel obligated to book (unless you love it) b/c they usually charge a fee for the trial anyway, right. JMO...

Re: makeup trials
I would not feel obligated to book. This is your wedding day. You must feel absolutely positive you love the make-up artist and are comfortable with their work. Yes, I believe it is customary to tip for a trial

Re: makeup trials
I dont think theres anything wrong with going to a few places to compare and see what you like. I'd just politely say that you'd get back to them with a decision on whether or not you'll be booking with them

Re: makeup trials
I also booked on the spot, because I really liked my trial! You can definitely shop around though...makeup is a vendor just like an other vendor!

Re: makeup trials
I booked on the spot only because I loved my trial and all the other brides that she's done that I've seen pictures of have come out amazing.
I did not intend to tip because she's the owner of her business, but in the end she spent over 3 hours with me (hair and makeup) and wanted to perfect is as much as she could even though it was just a trial. So I tipped her (more than 20%).
