Making an appearance at the CH - POLL

Making an appearance at the CH - POLL

I want to enjoy every second of my wedding but is it silly to be at the CH and then still making a 'grand entrance' at the reception?

What are you doing? What did you do?

i am definitely going to the CH - i can talk w/ guests there and hopefully have more time to enjoy the reception.

you can leave the CH 15 min early then make your entrance.

This is what we're doing too.

We are going to be at the CH and then probably leave early to make an entrance

Ditto! Who would miss the cocktail hour if they could prevent it? I want to get the meet and greet over with so I can party!!!
BTW I would love not to have a grand entrance at all. I hate when people look at me. I don't even like when they sing happy birthday to me and I have to sit there like an idiot.

We attended our CH and it helped us get a lot of the greetings out of the way. We left about 15 minutes before it was over to see the ballroom and then went back to the bridal suite and waited for our entrance.

Exactly what I plan on doing!

This is what we are doing. Upon penalty of death I told everyone that all pictures MUST be taken before.
If I'm paying for this entire thing... I'm going to be there! FH and I are sneaking away after our ceremony for a few minutes to go back to the bridal suite to savor the moment and have some food and then we are appearing at the cocktail hour and get introduced at the reception.

FH and I will be at our CH. That is one of HF's biggest things. He does not want to miss it!

Also as someone else posted and per recommendation from a friend, we'll greet as many guests personally as we can during the CH then in the reception, instead of meeting with each person, we'll just go to each table and greet the table! Hopefully save time!

I'd like to but FH would rather not. So I might sneak down anyway. I want to see every part of this wedding that we put together and paid soooo much money for. I also think it helps give the two of you more time at the reception to have fun instead of making sure you said hello to everyone.

I'm paying a lot of money to upgrade the CH menu - so I don't plan to miss a second of it. IMO, the CH is the most memorable and important part of the reception. Plus as everyone else has mentioned, I'll get the obligatoy visits out of the way so we can relax and enjoy the reception. To make sure we have enough time, we may do our pictures before the ceremony...

since I am getting married at the reception hall i dont have much choice, I will probably be taking pics during the cocktail hour, but you can bet your butt that if i can make it to CH I will!

Absolutely! This shindig is only 5 hours long (ladies, remind yourself of that every time you start pulling your hair out - essentially, it's a FIVE HOUR PARTY) and I don't plan on wasting one of them sitting on my haunches upstairs while everyone else gets to have fun. Also, I plan on greeting as many people as possible so I can have even more fun at my reception!

We wanted to see the CH room and make sure it looked as we wanted. We stayed for a 1/2 hour then we left. We had food in the bridal suite. I wanted to see the room more than anything. Even though we saw our guests at the CH we still had our'grand entrance' into the reception

Well my ceremony is at the Crest Hollow also, and CH immediately following. Not missing out on the champagn and strawberrys. Not missing one minute of it. It like a small pre-celebration before the grand entrance as husband and wife.

Thanks girls!
I am going to talk to my FH about all this but I noticed alot of you are saying how you are going to get some of the 'how do you do's' out of the way at the CH so you can relax more at the reception.
The thing is, I feel like even if I greet people in the CH, I will still be going around to every table at some point during the reception.
