FH really wants to make a photobooth on his own (he is rather crafty). I love the idea, and if he makes it we can do it cheap, but...I am worried about having it going without supervision all night. what if the paper jams? or we run out of ink? I don't want to be pulled away from important moments to go fix a printer. When I suggested hiring someone to basically babysit the equipment, FH says he is worried about leaving someone we don't know in charge of our computer, camera, etc. Any suggestions?

Re: making your own photobooth
That sounds like an awesome idea and it is really cool that your FH could actually build one!
Will your FH have to take time out the day of the wedding to transport everything and set it up at the hall? I'd be more worried about the set up and take-down after the wedding. In regards to watching the equipment, then I'd say you should hire a DOC to help assist with it. Otherwise, if there is a glitch I'd just close the photobooth so that you and FH are not pulled away to start fixing it.

he will have to set it up before hand, but we are the only wedding at our hall that day and it is literally five minutes away. breaking it down after a night of drinking is something I hadn't even thought of! maybe a DOC is a good way to go, she could just do double-duty.

I am personally avoiding anything that could take anyone away from the day.
I had a family member offer to do all of my centerpieces but I'd rather pay someone to do them so that family member isn't missing the day either.

If you have a canon camera they have a printing doc. Just take pics on the camera and print them straight to the the little printer. pics are post card size. I have one and love it! It's compact too. We took it on our honeymoon and sent postcards of ourselves home.

I'm not sure how much you are planning on spending on making the booth, but you could probably get on for about 600-700 dollars and not worry too much about it.... I would assume you would have to spend at least $200 to build your own (assuming you have the camera, printer, paper, ink...)

we have the computer, printer and laptop. I definitly think the ink will be the most expensive part. Surprisingly, when I mentioned a DOC, FH loved the idea, so I think we are going this route.
