MAN WITH RIFLE FOUND ON CAMPUS

I'm in class at St. John's on the Queens Campus and someone in a suit just came in and said we can't leave because they apprehended someone with a rifle on campus and they don't know if there is another person.

now the school said theyre not evacuating us anymore and that they are confirming a report of a 2nd person and theyre searching for him so we cant leave

here's a wacky one - lol, believe it or not this happened to me up in albany, granted i wasn't in the class room...buuuut are you able to use your cell? able to get intouch with your FH , mom, dad whomever? just checking. i know sometimes calls get blocked. let us know if you need to contact someone.

I've been watching the coverage on the news all night!
I went to school there for undergrad & grad school, & my husband still goes there for his masters... we were just over there last night!
It is so scary!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope everything works out okay.
Good thing they caught the guy & nothing has happened.

hey everyone - i just got home. i am OK. i don't even know what ended up happening. the communication with the law school and the undergrad admin was SO bad that the law school security was getting their info from the news and not even the unversity, despite the fact that its not even like the law school is isolated - it is right ont he undergrad campus and right next to the hall where this person was found. eventually the news said the university was letting everyone leave, and everyone just started leaving and not waiting for the actual 'evacuation.' that's what i ended up doing too.

then one of my BFFs and i went to camelot limos b/c we just needed to do something normal and forget about this. it was really a good decision - joe completely made us laugh for a half hour straight and we felt much, MUCH better about everything. joking is really cathartic. so yes, i did book them and i got a great deal - exactly what i needed!!! i even saw the LIW brag book and saw some of my posts in there!!!! it was hilarious. and we ragged on c o a c h m a n limos for a while, also very funny. i saw the super hummer, and the jet hummer, and i booked the super hummer. so glad!! they were great and i can't wait to make it into the brag book!!! lol.

I went there for undergrad and still go there for my masters - I have class tomorrow night!

My dad works there - the same thing happened to him - they never evactuated his building but they just couldn't take it anymore so they started to leave (he works in Sullivan Hall). He just got home a little over an hour ago.

I'm so happy everyone is okay!

EXACTLY - the communication was SO poor - they told us they'd evacuate us and then they nEVER DID. meanwhile, the news is praising st johns for doing such a good job. i feel the opposite. im glad no one was hurt, and i guess in that regard it was a good job, but we were PETRIFIED for hours jiust b/c of the sheer lack of communication.
