Any Manhattan brides out there?? I keep checking the nyc version of this website but the content seems to be exactly the same, just the colors are different.
Was just wondering if there are other brides out there who have been to Manhattan venues recently ...
Can we start a list of dates and venues here? Or do we do that in the 08 brides forum?
I feel a bit left out j/k

Re: Manhattan Brides
What kind of venue are you looking for? Mansion, loft etc?
I originally was looking to do the wedding in NYC but decided to do a vineyard wedding instead. I know lots of restaurants for rehearsal dinners and showers etc.

Re: Manhattan Brides
There aren't alot of brides on here getting married at NYC venues. I know if you go on the Knot (I know people talk badly about it here) But, if you go to the LOCAL boards, not the monthly boards, or the planning & etiquette boards, but the LOCAL boards, go to the NYC boards and the girls there are really helpful. That's where I did alot of my research when I was planning on getting married in the city. Hope that helps!

Re: Manhattan Brides
Here's a directory I used! It's the BEST resource, gives photos, capacity seating, square footage, etc. I used the print version but here it is online. Ended up with a W'chester reception but this really helped me!!
we initially wanted to have our wedding in manhattan.. the mariott in the finiancial district to be exact.. what changed our mind was $$$
WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too expensive for us. We both have HUGE families. (We've invited 227 guests)
What is your budget like?

Re: Manhattan Brides
My FH didn't really envision us getting married in NYC plus we felt having it further out would be a better way to kinda keep our list smaller.
We went to the Yale club and it was very pricy for very little food compared to the kind of food you get out on Long Island. WE LOVE the Vineyard and cannot wait to get married there. We were engaged in Napa so we wanted to keep the wine theme going.

Re: Manhattan Brides
We initially had our heart and minds set on getting married in the city. We're more city people so it's just more us. But, it was just too much $$$$. Every place had a ridiculous rental fee so it was like, I'm already spending 5K plus before I even walk in the door. Soup to nuts if would have cost twice as much to have our reception in the city. We were so bummed but since we didn't win Mega-Millions, we were out of luck.

Re: Manhattan Brides
Don't worry!!! here are some ideas..
I went to a good friend's wedding at the Water's Edge - we've been there lots of times for dinner, the food's great.. (we live in Astoria), and it has SPECTACULAR views of NYC. And its definitely not as much as a midtown venue - ALSO they have a watershuttle to the midtown pier which you can rent out if you want a great way to get people there from NYC or get them home at night.
There's also the Foundry in LIC which I have not seen in person (its on 9th street, just google The Foundry LIC) but looks pretty cool; we considered it but i never went to see it...
Lastly scan the Bride's review pages, there are quite a few that have used Manhattan venues, and some were really NOT that pricey!!!
