Manhattan receptions

Hi! I am a new member, although I've been reading the boards for a while - I was in spel's and metphan's weddings last year and know how much help they got from liweddings.

I am starting to research Manhattan reception locations for my wedding next year and was wondering if anyone had any experiences with the following places:

Trattoria Dopo Teatro
Union Theological Seminary at Columbia
91 (Upper Crust)

And if anyone has suggestions for other unique sites that are reasonably priced (under $100 pp?) I'd love to hear them.

Thanks!

I now that there are a few other places where my sister looked - did you check out Seaman's Church Institute??
What about Metronome??
And we also checked out Candela too which is a good restaurant and the price was amazing - way under $100 pp and the atmosphere is cook with all the candles everywhere...but we wound up on LI...

I am not sure what their price pp is, but I went to a very nice french rest. on Mon. that does alot of weddings. It was called La Bella Epoque and is on Broadway between 12th and 13th (i think). The decor was really nice, it reminded me of the Fench Quater in New Orleans. There is also a place called La Boutriene(I think that is right). I looked into them for my wedding. I think it was around $100pp, but I believe that included flowers.

Re: Manhattan receptions

I have been to a wedding at the Union Theological Seminary and it was really nice. The wedding was in early June so the ceremony and cocktails were in the courtyard outdoors. It's kind of an oasis in the city. I think you have to use outside caterers. You should schedule a visit and see the space. I would have considered the space for my own wedding but my friend had his wedding there first.

Another space in the city that may be in your price range is the 3 West Club (3 W. 51st Street). But this may not be as 'unique' of a site as the Seminary. It has a beautiful ballroom. (212-582-5454)

Thanks for the suggestions, ladies! I did look into La Belle Epoque and it's way out of my range - $100pp just for a 2-hour cocktail party. But I just e-mailed Candela to get some info from them, and I'll definitely check out some of your other suggestions!

You might want to look into the National Arts Club on Gramercy Park

National Arts Club

It's really gorgeous and I've heard of people having weddings there, but I'm not sure of the terms--if you have to have a member sponsor you, if you need outside caterers, etc.

The pics on the website really don't do it justice. It's really beautiful!

Good luck!
