Being pregnant makes me more cautious about everything I do. We have a party this weekend and I need a manicure desperately however I heard that you shouldn't have a manicure while you're pregnant. Something to do with chemicals getting into your system. Has anyone else heard this or is this just a myth?

Re: Manicure anyone?
Are we talking about a regular manicure, or fake nail tips with acrylic or some other synthetic wrap?
A natural manicure (and pedicure) is fine during pregnancy. If you're that concerned about it, you can just have two coats of clear polish on your nails. But, to my knowledge, there isn't anything that could harm your baby.
Not to mention that the pedicure is a MUST in order to pamper your tired feet in late pregnancy! LOL

Re: Manicure anyone?
I had tips on my nails all during my pregnancy. I asked the doctor & he told me it was fine! In fact I had lovely mint green nails (yes on my toes as well) I didn't know if I was having a boy or girl but I knew either way it would be Irish!! Beleive me it got a big laugh at the hospital. (They thought I was mental!!)

Re: Manicure anyone?
I asked my DR this ? early on in the pregnancy..and he said any type of manicure was fine. I have wraps. Just advised me to wear a mask when they apply glue, etc. Seems like a good ides esp since that is what the technicians do!
