manicures

manicures

So I used to bite my nails when I was younger. Have stopped the last few years, but I do have a tendency to pick at them if I'm nervous. My nails are tiny, but I want them to grow so I have nice ones. Someone said manicures help, but I'm too embarrassed to go and have a manicurist see my non existent nails. Anyone else have this problem did manicures help?

I haven't had this problem but I just wanted to say that you shouldn't be embarrassed at all. They see nails in all conditions. If I can help, I would go.

Instead of a manicure, have your nails done professionally. My nail person painted on acrylic nails to the length of my current nail, so they will grow together and be stong, instead og long and flimsy. You can choose to do a french or just get it painted, but I love this!!! I did it for the first time last week and they still look great and I don't find myself playing with my nails, bending them or breaking them.

Re: manicures

I used to bite my nails a lot, but then I started getting tips put on. Tips solve the problem of having no nails and getting you to biting them, but they dont help your natural nail grow stronger, in fact they make them weaker. I've stopped biting my nails for 2 years and they are still very weak. The best solution is to buy a nail strengthening liquid and put in on your nails every day. Regular manicures do help. When I get them done regularly they dont break. They really dont care what your nails look like. They have seen it all!

I have the same problem, my nail beds are really small and whenever I go for a manicure they all say 'Oh my God how cute..so small' and everyone comes over to look at my tiny nails and laughs at me...they say I have little kid hands...I hate it but I still go for mani's

try using nailtiques everyday for awhile.. I find that helps my nails grow and when you feel they are acceptable enough to manicure.. SPLURGE!!

That was my exact problem. I bit my nails (and the skin around them) and I went for a manicure and it helped alot. I haven't really bit them since. Of course the nail lady did comment on them being short but whatever. I have never gotten tips.

I too would recommend regular manicures, the people who are giving them dont care what your nails look like to start with. I woudl not get tips because its a temporary solution, when you dont want them any longer your nails are in worse shape than when you started. Also, you can get fungus and it can get to be really expensive.

Re: manicures

my FI used to bite his nails to little stumps before he met me. my mom owns a nail salon, so i started taking him in for weekly manicures and he hasn't bitten his nails now in 4 years! like someone else mentioned, definitely try the nail hardener Nailtiques also, it works great!
