Manzanita Tree

Has anyone thought about making their own manzanita tree for their wedding? When I went to the florist and told him my budget, he said the manzanita rental was out of the question. So I went home and started watching a lot of youtube videos and it doesn't seem too difficult. What are your thoughts?

Manzanita Tree

I have been debating if I should do this as CP's on my own but honestly I don't want to stress it. I will be having 25 tables so I think it will be too much work for me. Florists were quoting me outrageous prices to just rent them. There's bloomsandbranches.com they have pretty decent prices and also ebay. There are some sellers that will offer discounts if you buy in bulk. It's the shipping that costs a lot. Now I want to work with birch branches or curly willow instead since the prices are more reasonable and I can go to a florist to do. Are you thinking of doing them as cp's?

Re: Manzanita Tree

I want one displayed at the place cards table. I was planning on doing one 24 inch tree and getting flowers to put on the base and some crystals on the branches.

I agree that it's a lot of work to be doing it for centerpieces, especially since it'll be hard to transport without a van.

All the parts to the manzanita tree are pretty affordable which is why I think these florists are ridiculous.

What is your budget? My planner has pretty decent prices for centerpieces and floral design. www.samanthareneeweddings.com

And I think the prices are 'ridiculous' because you're paying for their time, labor, delivery and set-up, plus the materials. Not to mention gas

Manzanita Tree

I found the same thing with candle centerpieces. I wound up buying the glassware n my florist is setting them up for me. Spent $350 for something I was being quoted at $65/each. Buying the submerged orchids from my florist which is why she 'll set them up for free!!

I think doing one on your own is totally doable but could see how 25 might be a lot. Definitely try it!

Re: Manzanita Tree

I wanted to only spend $1200 on flowers for a wedding of 100 guests. I already got 2 quotes and it ranged from 1700 to low 2K.

This is what I was asking for:
10 centerpieces
1 bridal bouquet
4 Bridesmaids
9 boutonnieres

I also told the florists that I was open to any types of flowers as long as the colors went with the wedding.

For $1200 I say it's doable. How elaborate do you want the centerpieces?

Manzanita Tree

Sand Castle rents out Mazanita C.P.'s to their brides at very affordable rates, its too bad other venues don't smarten up and do the same. I would say look on ebay and amazon. Also, if you need any glassware I have had great luck at Amazon Savings in Cedarhurst. You can also buy bulk flowers from costco and bj's. I would definitely DIY them or buy them already made, why spend double to rent them? At least you'll be able maybe sell them after the wedding or repurpose them for something.

Not sure which vendor gave you that quote but have you tried Distinctive Floral? My quote was $1950 but it included way way way more than that and its for 100 guests. I listed everything i was getting in another post. I dealth with Maria. She is amazing! Let me know if you need more info.

Re: Manzanita Tree

Thanks for all the responses ladies.

I'm steering off topic a little. The florist that had quoted me in the low 2000 has just sent me a itemized bill of $3000! What do you guys think?

Rental Manzanita: $185 each
1 centerpiece: $180 each
Bride Bouquet: $180 each
Bridesmaid Bouquet: $85 each
Corsage: $17 each
Groomsman Boutonniere: $9 each
Father Boutonniere: $14 each

I mean I hate to say anyone's prices are 'ridiculous' because they charge what they charge for a reason, but if that is too much for you, I'd say keep shopping around or if you want to take on a project, DIY. But if you want it done right, look for a reasonable, fair price, not necessarily the cheapest!

ITA! I am buying lots of things instead of renting and plan to sell afterwards. Buying is almost always cheaper plus you get exactly what yo want.

I would take the itemized quote you received to another reputable florist and see if they can beat it. Ask to see pictures of their work or of the actual centerpiece you want.

Manzanita Tree

We've bought and assmebled our own manzanita Branch center pieces for our wedding next weekend and we have 20 of them sitting in the basement. Bought the branches from bloomsandbranches in boxes of 20, had to use about two branches per centerpiece. Trimmed, Sprayed then mounted in Glass vases. Hopefully the will work out fine.

I would not spend the cash on a rental of these CP. Just spend half that cash, put the trees together yourself. Send me a mesg if you need more info - GoodLuck
