Marisa Gowns...Quality - Good or Bad??

Marisa Gowns...Quality - Good or Bad??

For those who wore or have bought a Marisa gown...how is the quality? Every one I have tried on - while I love the fabrics & styles...the tops don't lay nice. I can't tell if it's the quality that's making them 'roll up' (where the inside fabric rolls up/out so you can see it from the front - if this makes sense) or if it's b/c they are samples that have been tried on a bunch of times. What have your experiences been?

Re: Marisa Gowns...

Hello,

I purchased a Marisa gown. All things have not been smooth with the dress. I purchased the dress in Bridal Reflections and the sample dress was fine. The dress then came in and I tried on the dress and wanted to cry. The inner lining of the dress - you could see the all the boning. It was a huge problem. To make a long story short, the seamstress at Bridal Reflections had to cut out the lining. They are now sewing a long lined bra that I purchased, so I will have some support to the dress.

As for the dress, the fabric is beautiful but I would just be careful. I am sure my dress is going to work out, but it has been a roller coaster of emotions.

Best of luck.

I noticed that with one of the dresses I tried on - I believe it was style #422 - Loved the half moon top & beading...hated the fact that you could see the boning. I'm so sorry you're going through that - I hope it all works out for you!!!

I had no problems with my marisa #487 with deeep v front and back. I loved it, got it at RK bridal but had alterations done by a seamstress in astoria (who i loved). Everything was perfect. Mine had no boning in it, maybe that's why? I think all marisa gowns are beautiful.

#487 is a heavy contender! As is #526.
starhead...you didn't have a problem with the top rolling over a smidge? I've noticed it in the 2 dresses above.

I'm just having a really hard time...I've tried on about 40 dresses all ranging in sizes 12-16...and I wear a 2! It's really hard to get a feel for what the dress will look like when they are so huge.

Please don't tell me this!! I, too, ordered my Marisa (#535) from Bridal Reflections. I didn't see any problems with the sample, except that it was (obviously) too big. I hope I won't have problems when it comes in

I too have a Marisa. The dress came in & the top is very big. I don't see any problem having them fit it exactly how I want. I love it! My first actual fitting is July 29th.

Re: Marisa Gowns...Quality - Good or Bad??

I also ordered a Marisa from Bridal Reflections....Marisa #504.

I thing your problem is that the dress was too big and the person who helped you at the store didnt clip the dress to you correctly. You have got to remember that the dress will not lay correctly if it is too big or too small....that is why they have seamstresses.

I tried on many dresses that did not lay correctly while trying on dresses (infact most didnt). I think you are worrying about nothing....

Boning is the 'bones' on the top of the dress...the run vertical and help to keep the dress shaped & in place. Think, corset. Dress # 422 has it - you can actually see it in the pic...it looked worse in person, imo. Though I love the dress.

I'm sorry...I didn't mean to worry you - I'm just ultra picky - apparently, after 40+ dresses, I still can't find one I absolutely love. Saw 2 'just about's'.

minniebride - yes, your dress appears to have boning. You can see it in the pic. Don't fret, if you didn't notice it when you tried it on, then it's no biggie to you.

regina2...I understand that they were too big...but a dress in my size wouldn't hide boning. I was just curious about the quality - I didn't like how the inside lining rolled up top...and couldn't tell if it was poor quality or just the sample. The sample I tried on last night was brand new...

Your dress is beautiful, btw.

Colleen, thanks for telling me what boning is (duh) I am worried though, because (honestly), I did like the dress and definitely thought the top was big, but I seriously thought it would be perfect when 'my size' came in. I should have paid more attention, but I didn't. I didn't really like any other dresses I tried on at all.

Donna, I am sure you will love your dress when it comes in! You ordered it, after all. I'm sorry - I didn't mean to make you fret...I'm just anal and super picky - I tend to notice *everything*...which is probably why I haven't found one yet. *sigh*

When does your dress come in? You must post pics!!!

cp-

I understand what you are saying about the sample being brand new. But if the dress is not your size and the lady who help you put the dress on incorrectly (didnt adjust the lining correctly) the rolling will happen. I tried on many expensive and well made dresses, and the same thing happened. It is just because you tried the dress on fast and it was not put on correctly and fastened correctly. I really wouldnt worry about the rolling..

If you are still worried, than go back to the store and try the dress on again. Maybe use a different sales girl to adjust the dress and see if it happens again. I went to BR - try asking for a lady named Patti. She was great.

Here is a pic of the top of my dress on my wedding day. It's lying flat (I had cups put in as I'm pretty flat chested) so you can see what it looks like when it fits properly. Let me see if I can find another that is not so blurry.

My marisa dress #509 is absolutely perfect. I ordered it from Bridal Couture and had my 2nd fitting yesterday. It lays flat and with the cups put in actually makes me look like I have a chest. I dont know how to post pics or I would.
