Marketing People Who in the World Makes Quiznos Commericals

Quiznos used to be my favorite. Now I can't tell when last I ate it. Their commericals gross me out.

The first one with the dog or whatever animals slobbing all over someone face.

Second these rat looking maniacs they got singing a song on the new commerical.

Hello why would I want to eat somewhere that the spokesperson looks like a rat ..yuck

They need to fire their marketing people.

omg, do they have those ads on MTV with the singing hands? ugh horrible ads. They def need a new ad agency.

OMG!!!! I LOVE THE SINGING RATS THINGS!!!

I think it is pure GENIOUS!!!!

DH and I even rewind the commercials on tivo to listen to it over and over...

and now whenever one of us is sad...we start singing like them!!!!

I will say the first time I saw it I was thinking what drugs were the marketing guys on...and who approved it!!! but I love it!!!

They recently changed their agency (end of last year) The ageny they are using now who I think launched the ads you are talking about is The Martin Agency they are located somewhere in Virginia. I think this was the first campaign out the door from them.

They are known for having way out there ideas. From a marketing stand point the ads are brilliant! You doing exactly what you did by posting this and talking about the ad (good or bad) is exactly what they wanted.

Expect to see more of crazy ads for Quiznos this year!

Honestly.. I think that's about the most stupid thing I have ever seen.. glad I dont eat there. It's just plain stupid. Cant believe ppl allowed it to go so far to spend that much on a commercial so stupid. JMHO

The main thing I don't understand with the commercials is that its GROSS why associate something gross with food.

I think from a marketing point of view these ads are aweful, and I'll tell you why.. While they are generating top-of-mind awareness via these ads (i.e. people talking about the singing rats), these singing rats do nothing to bolster the brand image. Who wants to eat sandwhiches with singing rat mascots? Why would you link a food product with these things... Reminds me of the singing CA raisin commercials in the 80s.. yes- they were successful while the commercials ran but after they pulled the campaign they received no sustainable benefit- besides merchandising- they didn't talk about the benefits of eating raisins, etc.. I don't know- as a MBA/Marketing student I don't think these adv. for quizno rest of sound advertising principles- I certainly wouldn't have approved these creatives.

These commercials have really grown on me, actually. They're quite disturbing (what is it with Quiznos and their disturbing commercials??!) - but they crack me up.

The purpose of advertising is not always to talk about what the product is. Being in the business over 7 years now I have learned alot about what the purpose of these ads are. And it is to keep the product top of mind. Think about the Domino Pizza Noid from back in the early 90's. That was great advertising for Domino's yet the noid was not the most attractive thing. Or how about the kid Stewart on the Ameritrade ads who taught the old guy how to trade online. Great charachter but not the kind of person I would normally trust my money with. He got so popular Ameritrade had to pull him so he didn't overshadow their brand.

Point is those rats (as gross as they are) are generating lots of controversy which= free puplicity. Absolute Genius!!!

Sassy I used to think exactly how you did before I worked in some of the big agencies in the city. After seeing what some of these creative people came up with I was amazed!

I think creating top of mind awareness is something you want to do in a brand that is already established.. However, quiznos is just starting to break into the fast food marketplace- they need to build up market share, and I'm not sure that these gross rats do anything to differentiate their product from others. It's like the Taco Bell dog- although the dog itself is a pop culture icon, the sales results from that campaign were pretty horrible.. I'm positive the quizno rats would have the same result. The purpose of Adv is to drive sales (especially in fast food- not necessarily in higher involvement products like cars/computers)... not create pop culture icons... yeah- people are TALKING about the rats, but are they buying the subs? Free publicity does not = sales... and although creatives come up with fantastic- crazy ideas, that doesn't necessarily mean they are sound from a marketing perspective.

FH and I were just talking about this commercial this morning. It's so weird! Oh, and those things - (which I thought were mutant gerbils) are actually monkeys!!!! FH went to the Quizno's website and it says that they're singing monkeys. Mmmmm kayyyy.......
