How long do they take to get them?
Did they throw you any curveballs?

Is it anything like the DMV????

Tell me your experience so I can know what to except and prepare FW. TIA

I live about 5 minutes away from the office in Kew Gardens but after hearing about a friend's nightmare there (4 hours in line), we went to the town of north hempstead in manhasset. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it-- it was maybe 20 minutes. All you need is a license, passport and $40.

I went there - my advice, DONT GO THERE!! We had to go back a few times since the lines were so long. If you can, go somewhere in Nassau or Suffolk.

We went on a Tuesday morning to Town of Hempstead and it was probably 11am and no problems. You go in, fill out the form, sit and wait for one of the people working there (clerk I guess) and then you get called to their cubby and they look over all the inforamtion and they input it into the computer (the one we dealt with was very nice) and we were out of there in about 1/2 hour tops.

No problems!

Re: Marraige licenses

hmm, this seems a bit WEDDING related to me. . .

Did someone get lost on the way to the boards?

Kidding of course, but there is all sorts of knowledge of marriage licenses on BHB.

Take your birth certificate. Officially you need it,
but not all offices seem to require it , but the White Plains one did.

We went at 11:30, it was quick, only 1 other couple was there (Nferrandi & her FH, actually!)
It took us about a halfhour, but my FH said that's b/c I took forever to fill out the form. (I didn't want to make any mistakes.)

They were quick with filling it out & then making a couple of corrections.(just typos--FH has awful handwriting)

LOL... NWR is home for me..

BHB has too much talk of veils, dresses, shoes and whiny bridesmaids who need to be sent to their room and a good spanking.. woo hoo! JK

Besides.. I know the most people here.

WHen I first joined, before I posted much, I used to love to read stories about crazy family& bridal party drama. It help tide me over untill I got home to watch tv.
Now, its kind of tiring...

We just went there last week to get ours. We went on Thursday afternoon. All we had to take was our Driver's License and a $35 money order (money order ONLY!) Took us approx 1 hour. There were a few other couples ahead of us. They didn't have their paperwork completed properly otherwise we would have been there longer. FH stood in line while I filled out the paperwork. We got there around 2pm and got out right before 3pm. Thanks to NSGRAHAM she helped me with everything we needed to do.

VERY close..
I'm ready.. I think FW and I both are.

Believe it or not.. right now.. we just want to get it over with. We are so sick of just running around , calling a million people. It's too much. With getting a place to live, the Wedding, and other things that cause you concern, etc... it's just so much to handle.

We have had a couple of diasagreements lately. Someone told me.. 'it's normal.'

We usually don't fight.. we both have long fuses.. but patience has been frayed. Still, we look to the BIG picture and what is important.

Saturday is my Bachelor party and her bachelorette party. We need time to party.

I'm like you.. I would read about families in a state of all-out civil war and think.. oh crap..

Now..I soooo do not want to hear it. LOL

How are things with you?

We are the sameway-want to get it over with.
FH is focusing on the HM( cruise)

Everyday-we have to check with each otherafter work..'what did you accomplish today.. .' what's for tomorrow..' It's getting old.

We don't fight either, but oval tables vs round tables was almost the end of us!

OMG.. sounds EXACTLY like us..

What did you do. what needs to be done...
I am so sick of this.... LOL

We fought over where to put the computer in the new place. That got too ugly for its own good. It was so stupid to fight about that.
