Marriage lic / name change

I was reading that when you apply for your license you can put what you are changing your name too on it, has anyone done this? Do you have to , or does this make it easier to change your name later on? We are purchasing a home right after the wedding and I was told not to change my name until after the closing so I am wondering if I should do this.

i put down what my new name will be but was told it didnt make a difference if you put it or not...you still need to submit an actual name change form...

not sure if it makes things easier or not...

the forms asks what the new name will be , but you still have to go the SS office and legally change your name

but it appearing on the marriage license is good, cause when you need to change you credit cards and car insurance and stuff... the new name on the license is helpful
