Marriage Lic process and changing my name freak out
I always bust my FH chops and tell him that he has to take my last name as I won't be taking his. Lol But at the end of the day, I will be changing my name. Contemplating about hyphenating but we shall see.

I'm taking his last name (and he wants me too). My last name is always mispronounced and misspelled here from two ways to heaven lol. FH's last name will be a welcomed change.
This!
I'm so excited t have a nice, easy last name. The family I'm close with is all on my mothers side, with her maiden name, anyway, so I don't feel like I'm detaching from much. And it'll be great not having to spell and pronounce my last name a million times for people to get it.
I usually have to phonetically spell out a couple of letters in my name. 'F as in Frank, N as in Nancy.' So annoying. At offices where they need my last name, I just hand over my drivers license lol.

I went in Queens yesterday and since I filled out the main application online, it was a simple process. We had to sign and pay and then you get the certificate. Took maybe 30 minutes because of wait times. It IS sad/surreal seeing the new surname. But also exciting.

I know I come from a different era and things have changed sooooo much, but I just feel its not like you are giving up your identity or leaving your family, you are just starting a new chapter. I personally would feel like I wasnt giving it my all or like i wasnt in it 100% to move foward if i didnt take his name. In the end you have to do what makes you comfortable.
I'm with you. I'm still Nicole no matter what my last name is.

We must have been there at the same time yesterday!! I was there between 2-3. Took us a little longer since we had to fill out the form. Made it back just in time before the meter expired!
I did change it, it was hard to write that as my new last name though. I'm sure I'll get used to it.
