Marriage licence question

There is a 24 hour waiting period.

Does this mean, that we can get our license tmorow (Wednesday) and get married on Thursday as long as it is 24 hours after?

Dumb ? I know, I just want to make sure this is what it is...

YES! That's exactly what it means....if you go at 9am tomorrow, it wouldn't take effect until 9am on Thursday. And you have sixty days in which to make it legal.

Whew, Thank you!

I am overwhelmed with wedding planning, & task, I felt like I was missing something...

Our wedding is the eleventh of September, we will have a 'mock' ceremony that day, and plan to get married this Thursday... Simply because we prefer not to have 9/11 as an anniversary

So if you're in NYC I would suggest you go online ASAP and fill out the application at the city clerk's office. Then at least 24 hours later, max 21 days later, you can go pick up the license.

I believe that fulfills your 24 hour waiting period (just saves you from having to go in to the clerk's office twice and waiting in that awful line...they could teach the DMV a lesson in slow customer service) and you can sign and be married right away at that point, or wait up to 60 days.
