marriage license

What is the process? Go to town hall? How long before you get married? Do they still do blood tests??

Thanks

Re: marriage license

You need to call your town hall and make an appt. I think you should get it within 8 weeks of your wedding date. NO More Blood Tests so that's a good thing. I'm not sure how much money so best thing to do is call your munical building and ask.

I made an appt with mine two weeks b4 the wedding. You also need to bring a witness over 18 so we're taking my mom and then she'll pick up the license. Also, bring proof of address like driver license and birth certificate.

Re: marriage license

doesanyone know if a passport is accepted in lieu of a birth certificate?

FH was born in poland, and it would be really difficult to track the birth certificate down... but his US passport is obviously easy to bring along...

oh, never mind, I found info online.... nys requires the passport for ID, and the birth certificate (or baptismal certificate of naturalization papers) for age....

sigh. Another document to dig up!

Yeah, I think that'll be fine. You should still call your town hall and ask what they expect

We didn't need an appointment, we just went down to Town Hall one morning and got it done. No blood tests, yayee!! And don't forget, you need to bring $40 with you too.

ETA: You have to go at MOST 60 days before your wedding but at LEAST 24 hours before.
