For those of you already married - where did you get your marriage license & what did you need? Any chance you recall how much it cost??
For those of you not married yet - where do you plan to get yours????
Thanks so much!!!!!!

Re: MARRIAGE LICENSE
we went to hempstead town hall. we needed 2 forms of photo id (we used drivers licenses and passports) and $40. you have to go together between 60 and 2 days before the wedding.
every town hall has different requirements, so be sure to call before you go.

Re: MARRIAGE LICENSE
We went to the town we live in. We needed license and birth certificates. Passports alone were NOT enough. (Learned that from two trips) It cost $40.

Re: MARRIAGE LICENSE
Our problem is that we live in NJ - he's a resident in NJ & I am still in NY as far as my license...so we're going to have to get a NY state license - as we're getting married in NY...

Re: MARRIAGE LICENSE
you will have to go to NY to get your license. town halls are not open on the weekends. you can apply for your marriage lic anywhere in NY State (except for NYC unless you're getting married in any of the 5 boroughs).
if you were getting married in NJ, the laws are different....

i just checked this out further and you can get the lic in NYC (since it's a state lic) and get married anywhere in NYS. but i think if you're getting married in NYC you have to get it in the city.

no problem!!
it's a bigger pain the butt to get married in NJ than it is in NY... so you're lucky! in NJ if the bride is from NJ you have to get the lic in the township where she lives even if the groom is also from NJ. but if only the groom or neither live in NJ, then you have to go to the township where you're getting married to get the lic and then 10 days after the wedding you have to go back to the town hall w/ a witness to finish the paperwork! ug!
but be on the safe side and call which ever town hall you choose to verify what you'll need to bring w/ you.

Re: MARRIAGE LICENSE
We went to Long Beach City Hall to apply for our marriage license.
It took about 1/2 hour, there was 1 couple being helped by another clerk in the office. There's a parking lot, so parking wasn't an issue.
Fee was $40, and had to bring our passports and drivers licenses.
After the wedding our priest mailed in the signed license, and we received our certificate in the mail within 2 weeks from the wedding date.
I highly recommend going to Long Beach for this!!!

Re: MARRIAGE LICENSE
Thanks for all the info.
I wish we could just get a NJ marriage license, so weird how you need to get it for the state you are getting married in. We both live and work in NJ. We will never live in NY (though I wouldn't mind moving back!), we're just getting married there because my mom and rels live on Long Island. I don't really 'get' why you need it from the state your wedding will be in.
I wonder if you run off to Jamaica or some other destination if you need a license from that Island. That's so funny in a way.

Re: MARRIAGE LICENSE
we went to town hall in smithtown we needed ss cards for each each original birth certificate license or passport or some form of pic ID and it cost $40.
I believe that they are the only town hall that wants to see SS cards....
