You have to go within a month of your wedding date to obtain a marriage license, right? I believe that's what my church said (Catholic, not sure if that matters). Can someone verify this? THANKS!

Re: marriage license
it just has to be 60 days or less before your wedding. Just cant get it 2 days or day before the wedding since it can take 24-48 hours to process

Re: marriage license
Yup, it's good for 60 days. We're going to get ours tomorrow in the City.
One other thing, I had heard (maybe I just made thing up), that you needed your original birth certificate. This actually isn't the case...just one of the eight forms of ID they take (drivers license, passport, etc).

some places do ask for the birth certificate...i did it in queens and they dont require a birth certificate just a drivers license. But other girls on here said some places in LI you need your birth certificate

Re: marriage license
You're absolutely right. I was on the New York City Clerk's website, where is clearly does not list your birth certificate as a requirement (just one of the 8 forms of ID). But on the main New York state website it was you need ID plus a birth certificate (or naturalization record, census record, etc) as proof of age. I guess that's why you're not asked for one in manhattan or queens, but I wonder why there is a difference?
Sorry for the confusion!
