Does anyone know about how long it takes to get it once you are there? I will probably have to go on work time and dont want to be missing for 2 hours....

Re: Marriage License
it depends on how crowded it is. The process isn't very long but if there are a lot of people ahead of you it could be a long wait. It probably also depends on the office you plan on going to, some are more busier than others. Your FH must be present too, when we were there a girl showed up that didn't know that

Mine took about 45mins because I did it at the Queens court house , but i heard the one in Hempstead your in and out in 10 mins.
Come to think of it those workers have the best jobs, they are surrounded with lovey dovey couples all day long

wow really, i also went to the queens courthouse and it was pretty quick for us. We were in and out of there pretty quick. We went at 2pm though so maybe thats why there were less people.

Re: Marriage License
So I guess here is a follow up question..
Do you need to go to a specific courthouse?
My mom told us we had to go to one that was in the town we are getting married in. Is that true??????
We are getting married in Bayshore NY, but live in San Francisco.
I think we need to get it in NY, but does it have to be in Bayshore?
TIA!

Re: Marriage License
Ok - so I just went to the state website, and found out the following info:
You can go to the Clerks office in NYCity and receive the marriage license (you get it right away like others said) it doesnt have to be in the county where you are getting married.
