Marriage License

So i know they are only good for 60 days...
but is there a time frame you have to have it by before the wedding??
some said you need to get it at least a month before?
My FH is have trouble finding his birth certificate so he is requesting another copy but we wont get it till next week and our 1 month marker is wed?

I didnt think this was the case, but better safe than sorry!
TIA!!

Re: Marriage License

You don't need a birth certificate if you have a NYS driver's license.

At least not if you go in Brooklyn.

You have to get your marriage license at least 24 hours before your wedding, but no more than 60 days before.

Re: Marriage License

In Nassau and Suffolk Counties you need to have a photo ID (license or passport) and your original Brith Certificate with the raised seal.

The Marriage License is valid for 60 days but takes 24 hour to mature. So in other words you need to get it no more than 60 days out but at least 2 days before your wedding.

HTH!

Re: Marriage License

If your FH goes to the Town Clerk office (or if one his parents goes), they can give him a new birth certificate right there. I couldn't find mine the other day and FH and I are going next week so I needed it ASAP. My mom went in, showed ID, and walked out with a new copy.

Just an FYI if you absolutely needed it sooner!

town of oyster bay has later hours....and you have a choice of two locations

Licenses to marry in New York State may be obtained from the Town Clerk’s Office (Town Hall East, 54 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, New York 11771 or Town Hall South, 977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa, New York 11758) regardless of the residence of either of the parties. Once the license is issued, the ceremony may be performed anywhere in the state. A marriage license is good for sixty (60) days, beginning twenty-four hours (24) after the license is issued. The requirements for the issuance of marriage licenses in the Town of Oyster Bay are mandated by the provisions of the New York State Domestic Relations Laws.

The marriage section of the Oyster Bay Town Clerk’s Office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Applicants should arrive prior to 4:15 p.m. Both applicants must appear in person. Two forms of ID are required

also, they have 'late nights'...but i would call just to double check...

The two Town Clerk's Offices, Town Hall East, 54 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, New York 11771 and Town Hall South, 977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa, New York 11758, are extending their hours until 7:30 p.m. on each of the following Tuesdays:

•September 8

sorry so long...good luck!
