This is a tough one....My FH is divorced. According to the knot.com...in order for us to get a marriage license, he must provide a divorce decree. He is totally against this. He says he will just fill out the form that he is single...I'm not sure how this works? Anyone ever been in this situation. Do they do background checks? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: marriage license
This is a legal binding document and if he doesnt put it down he can be fined for falsifying a legal document. Also, if it cant be put down for any reason, it could make your marriage null and void. If he needs a copy he can go down to the County Center in Riverhead (FM me if you need directions) and get a copy for a small fee. Hope this helps. BTW, my FI is divorced this is why I had to look into it and he had to get a copy of his divorce decree.

Re: marriage license
when you register, they take your ss# so when they check, most likely they will find out he was married before....then it might become more of a headache - hopefully he will just change his mind and get a copy of his divroce papers!
