Marriage License-Nassau County
Where did everyone get theirs?I think I remember Allegra saying she went to Manhasset for hers, and that she was in and out pretty quickly.
Does it matter WHERE you go, even if it isn't the town you live in?

Re: Marriage License-Nassau County
It doesn't matter where you go to get it or where you are getting married. There are a few Nassau County offices you can go to. There's Oyster Bay, Hempstead, Manhasset, Glen Cove, Long Beach. I'm not sure what other Town Clerks Offices there are. Just do a search for 'Nassau County Town Clerks' and you should be able to find the full list. If it helps at all we went to the Town of Babylon Town Clerk and they are located in Lindenhurst on Sunrise Hwy. Also, be careful with the late nights or extended hours. We were going to go last week to the Huntington Town Hall since FH works in Huntington, but we found out that their late night is for town of Huntington residents only. I'm sure not all of the Town Clerks offices are like this, but regardless of what the website says, ie: open till 5pm, call first, they kind of operate like the DMV, 'we're open till 5 but you have to be in our doors by 4:45' that type of thing. GL!

From the Nassau County website: In Nassau County, marriage licenses are issued by the three towns and two cities. Marriage Licenses are maintained by the municipality in which the license was obtained. For a copy, you would go to the same Town Hall in which you originally obtained the license. For example, if you were married in Glen Cove, but you obtained your marriage license in the Town of Hempstead, your license would be available at the Town of Hempstead. The Nassau County Clerk does, however, have a record of marriages beginning with the year 1907 and ending April 29, 1935.
Where did you get your license from?

Re: Marriage License-Nassau County
Just an FYI...the Town of Oyster Bay is the only town clerk that offers late nights to everyone. It is the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month. There is one in Oyster Bay and one in Massapequa. They are open until 7:30 and you can only pay in cash. It is $40. The next late nights are tonight...8/11 and 8/25.This is from the Town of Oyster Bay Website:
Licenses to marry in New York State may be obtained from the Town Clerk’s Office (Town Hall East, 54 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, New York 11771 or Town Hall South, 977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa, New York 11758) regardless of the residence of either of the parties. Once the license is issued, the ceremony may be performed anywhere in the state. A marriage license is good for sixty (60) days, beginning twenty-four hours (24) after the license is issued. The requirements for the issuance of marriage licenses in the Town of Oyster Bay are mandated by the provisions of the New York State Domestic Relations Laws.
The marriage section of the Oyster Bay Town Clerk’s Office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Applicants should arrive prior to 4:15 p.m. Both applicants must appear in person. Two forms of ID are required
also, they have 'late nights'...but i would call just to double check...
The two Town Clerk's Offices, Town Hall East, 54 Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, New York 11771 and Town Hall South, 977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa, New York 11758, are extending their hours until 7:30 p.m. on each of the following Tuesdays:
•August 11
•August 25
•September 8
•September 22
•October 13
•October 27
•November 10
•November 24
•December 8
•December 15

Re: Marriage License-Nassau County
I went to Manhasset also for mine. We had to make an appointment b/c we were going at night. I think they do it the 3rd Thursday of every month? I'm not 100% sure. We were in and out in 10 minutes. If you go during the day you don't need an appt.

I was just there on Friday to get a copy of my birth certificate...it was so easy and so quick! I asked them about the marriage license and they said I can get it there even though I live in Queens. I have a paper in my car with all the info...I'll fm it to you when I get it out of my car later if you want.
