Re: Marriage License Process
You go to city hall, and you have to bring your birth certificate, a drivers lic or passport, $40, and your FH... and they have you fill out the form, and then lady types it up, and puts a seal on it, and that is what you bring to the church (the night of the reherasal) and then the priest fills out the bottom and sends it to city hall, and then they send you your offical marriage cert!

No seal is on the marriage license-the seal is on the marriage certificate.
You go and they do all the work with you and you will get it right then and there. After the wedding you will get a Marriage Certificate in the mail-your church/officiant will mail this out after they sign and date it.

Correct, city hall downtown is $35, and it's via money order only. So make sure you get that before you do down there.

Re: Marriage License Process
NYC is different from the town halls in Suffolk, Nassau and upstate. NYC is money order only, all the others are cash or check.
Best bet is to check with the town hall you are going to.

You're right it did only take DH and I about 15-20 minutes there (on Valentine's Day no less!)
It was $40 (we paid cash) and we were really in and out of there rather fast.
Also we got our marriage certificate by the time we came back from the honeymoon- our wedding was on March 9th and we got the certificate in the mail dated March 14th...we were home by March 17th.
