Re: Marriage License Question
I just went & got it at the Town Clerk's office in Hempstead. It is $40 & you need 2 ids. I did it the 2 week of Sept and it took about 15 mins. I would try & get it out of the way since it is so easy to do. The clerk's office gave me a packet which has the name change infor for DMV & I believe other agencies. Good lUck

Re: Marriage License Question
you can go now. it's valid for 60 days after you get it. I got mine last week.
they ask you at the town hall if you will be taking your FH's name. they put that info down on the license.
bring both your birth certificates and drivers license and $40 cash.

Re: Marriage License Question
I thought I had to do it closer to a month before my wedding. Is it open on the weekends? We sent our birth certificates away in the mail to get our passports, and we received our passports but not our birth certificates! Do they usually come back with passports? .
Let the anxiety begin
ETA: Do we need the birth certicicates or just 2 forms of ID?

yes, the birth certificates are supposed to come back with the passports!! some town halls will accept a passport instead.
as far as I know, none of them have weekend hours but some have evening hours. you should call the nearest one to and find out.

Re: Marriage License Question
I don't think any of them have weekend hours. In Manhattan, all you need is a driver's license and a money order for $35. The ID and form of payment requirements vary by town so call the clerk's office beforehand to find out what they accept. You can get your license any time up to 60 days before the wedding (except you can't get it within 24 hours of the wedding). We went for our license 2 weeks before the wedding.

We also sent away for our passports,,and dont think they will be back in time..so we went to town hall and got copies of our birth certificates...It is 10 bucks..and really quick..
Just make sure to go to the townhall in the town you and Fh were born...

Re: Marriage License Question
I live in Queens but I'm a few blocks from Nassau County (and FH and I work on LI) so can we still get our licences on LI? I have a feeling that the answer is yes but I want to make sure!
