I received my marriage certificate from the church, however the DMV will not accept this in order to change my name. Does anyone know if the state definitely sends you an official marriage license, and if so, how long does it take? Thanks!

The state does send you an official marriage certificate. I had mine by the time I got back from my HM (two weeks). If your officiant sent your license in right away you should have yours soon.
BTW, You have to change your name at SS first. When you receive your new SS card, you take that to DMV for the name change on the DMV documents.
