We haven't gotten our passports yet (and we're well past the 12 week mark ) And it costs $60 each for a new birth certificate.
I am BROKE and I know as SOON as I waste $120 on new birth certificates, the passports will come...if I don't spend the $$, I'll be screwed.
FH said his friend used a copy, but I'm having trouble believing that it would be that easy...
ANyone know?

Re: Marriage liscence Question
We brought our original BC's - but they didn't even ask for them. All they needed to see was the drivers license. That was in the NYC office at least.
Bring the copy, I think you'll be fine with that if they even ask for it

Re: Marriage liscence Question
Town of Hempstead didnt ask for BC. Only driver's license and passports.
And, I heard Birth Certificates are only $10 at Town of Hempstead. Call them and ask.

Re: Marriage liscence Question
Last year when I was going on vacation the airport wouldn't accept my birth certificate b/c it was old and torn. I was able to go to the Amityville town hall b/c I was born in that town (Brunswick hospital in Amityville). It was only $5 and I got it right a way. Find out where the hospital that you were born in is located and you could go to that town hall.
Town Hall in Hempstead just asked for 2 forms of ID and I showed them my license and my insurance card. I didn't have my birth certificate or passport (both were at my Mom's house for safe keeping!).
