Married 09'ers- Question about must take/recreate photos!

Hey Ladies.

I see that a lot of you have must take photos in your albums. I also see there a lot of of photo's that you would like 'recreated' as well...and its basically the same must take/recreate topic.

So.

DID you all do the recreate photos you wanted? Must take photo's?

Was it what you wanted based on the original idea?

Did you feel you had too many must take/recreate photo's? Not enough?

Did you give the photog a list of photos of family memebers? Bride, groom Inlaws? etc?

We didn't have a list of must take shots. I was really confidant in our photographer. He is amazing. We went over shots we wanted of our family/friends, and that was it. I love love love how my pro pics came out. I need to put some in an album on here.

I'm not married yet, but just want to share to be careful with the must take photos...depending on the personality type, it can be construed as insulting to your photographer to show them another photographer's work and ask them to, in so many words, jack it.

I can't say enough good things about my photographer, he's definitely at the top of my favorite vendor list if not the overall favorite, and when we went over this at our initial meeting he advised that I could give him a list of family photos, specific locations I wanted pictures of, etc...but NOT to give him any photos from another company, because he wouldn't infringe on their creative license.

So just make sure you go over this with your photog on an individual basis!

Our photog told us he doesn't do 'recreates'. I have like 2 pictures I like, which I am going to ask him to take 'something like this' but as Ali said, some photographers won't do it.
I AM giving him a list of pictures I want taken, like me and my parents, me and my aunts and uncles, fh and his godmother, etc. Some of these are standard, I just assume he'll use this as a check list to make sure he gets it all.

I didnt ask my photog to re-create anything. I view him as not just a photog but as an artist and wanted him to do his thing. I did give him a list of pics I wanted taken with certain people.

the ones i have in my album i didn't even end up doing. lol i had him do two specific pictures and the rest i left up to him ...he did a great job!

I really thank all of you for this info.

Im not really I sure I have any 'must takes/recreations' but I have seen SO many girls on here with them I was wondering what was up with that.

Some of those pix are amazing.

There were a couple of specific pictures I asked our photographer to take. One was of DH and me at the altar with my train pulled around to the front, which was similar to a picture from my parents' album. I also asked him to take a picture of me in silhouette to recreate a picture from my Communion. We also asked him to take a group shot of each side's extended family.

Other than that, we trusted him to do his thing. We loved his work and wanted him to just capture our special moments instead of trying to restage someone else's. We are thrilled with how our pictures came out.

I really didnt have a huge list at all. I think there were only like 3 or 4 that I gave her. I know we got one....but I'm not sure about the others b/c I have no seen all of my proofs yet.

I'm not married yet, but I want to use the 'must take photos' as a kind of indicator of our style. They don't have to be exactly the same, but I want something similar!

Jill, I think you hit the nail on the head for using it as an indicator rather than 'These MUST be recreated'.

We did not have a must take photo list. I really trusted my photographer. I had the family members that I wanted photos of ready to take pictures when we did our 'formal' shots. As for recreating a photo talk to you photographer in advance. The day of is really busy and the last thing you want to worry about is what pictures you are going to take.

I didnt take a list or photos with me, but before the wedding we sat down and I told them exactly what I wanted and suggestions on things I had seen and wanted also. So I would have a pre-wedding meeting just to make sure your both on the same page
