My mom & grandmother insist that you tell the venue less than your count bc people dont show up....i think they are crazy!
did any of you do this??? does anyone plan on doing this???
those that are married....how many no-shows did you have???
if you do give less of a count, how do you do that? my RH requires me to fill out a seating chart with the number of people at each table. do i just randomly select who i think wont show and make their table size smaller??? and then have someone tracking to see who comes and doesnt come so that the table sizes are accurate??? seems like a confusing nightmare that i dont want to deal with on the day of my wedding

Re: married ladies - final count question....
We had 4 no show's on the day of...we were already under our minimum before then, so we just told them the number we thought were all yes'.

Re: married ladies - final count question....
my mom wanted to give them 3 people under what we were guaranteed because she says there are always emergencies at the last minute.. my sister told me i shouldn't do it for understandable reasons in our situation... we had 3 no show

Re: married ladies - final count question....
i did do this but it didn't help me because when i didn't get any cancellations the week of, i paid for the 'extra' people on friday (my wedding was on sunday).
we got a cancellation THAT NIGHT I paid and then 2 more the day of.

Final count on day of was either 51 or 53, and then we counted our vendors (6 in total) towards our final count - so like 57 or 59 in total were at the wedding, after the last minute cancellations and no-shows. Our guarantee was 70. Nice way to throw money down the trash, especially since we didn't get reimbursed in any way at all...good times

Re: married ladies - final count question....
We didn't need to do this only because we were actually below our minimum and they just gave us vendors for free. But, if were above the min we def. would have because we did have some no's after we gave our final count. We were going to tell them about 6 less than our actual number and then have that money on hand the day of to pay for the 6 if they did show up.

We didnt do it. 5 people didnt show up the day of.
If your final count is 212 I would pay for like 208.

Re: married ladies - final count question....
I'm not married yet, but will be soon! We told our hall a few less than our final head count, and planned to ask them to add a few seats the day before. We already have two people who were supposed to come tell us they now can't make it, so I am glad we told them less!

Re: married ladies - final count question....
I didnt have any 'no shows' the day of my wedding ... and we were a party of 120 guests. We had one cancellation the week of that did come in too late which we had to pay for. Its such a sin what venues do ... you should pay for whoever is there end of story!
If I were you with such a large wedding I would undershoot. Then you can call two days before or so when you do the drop off and say the number went up. Its easier to add on then to take off. You can pay the difference that day!

My RH let me have a guarantee of 65 and I really don't want to pay for many more than 75....was just wondering how it all was having a smaller guest list.

We said 5 under (the total that said yes) and we had 2 last minute cancellations so it was fine for us

I would stick to a smaller guarantee, things just change end of day, and it's weird because in smaller weddings having 2-4 people not show up on day of isn't as noticeable as when you only have 50-60 people there, you know?

I had 4 no shows. Someone had said to always tell the RH 4 less, wish I listened.

I had 2 no shows....we were only 4 over our min to begin with, so I just told them the real #. Oh well.
