So married ladies, how many non gifters did you have?
I had a FULL table of no shows--one of the old folks had a medical thing--so I had 5 couples that were no shows (all her kids + spouses) and 8 other non gifters for a grand total of 13.
Right now I still have 10 oustanding...and one of them in particular REALLY pisses me off because she got married a year and a half ago and I gave her a rather generous gift....so would you throw a casual 'hey wanted to make sure I didn't misplace your card' comment her way or would you give her the full year before you call her out?
For your reference this is someone I've known since about 9th grade and have been super close with...we've grown apart a little because she married a dbag and doesn't really have many close friends anymore because everyone hates her husband...
Also they are both employed and do well.
Please advise!?

Re: Married Ladies--Non-Gifters?
Hmm...to be honest, I would probably let it go. As awful as it is, I would feel funny saying anything at all...I know you aren't all about your gifts or antyhing like that but I would be afraid that saying something would come off that way...Id just chalk it up to stupid people, be happy for the people who were there to celebrate and that's that. sorry this is happenin!

I only had 2 people (one couple) not show up and they were the only ones who didnt give us a gift.
Hmmmm in your situation I honestly dont know what I would do. I'd probably just let it go and write her off.

If im writing her off, id rather do it with my 350 back! Hahahaha
I just dont get how you have the audacity to go to someones wedding giftless after you just got married?!?! I mean you know what things cost, do you think its fair to show up, eat and drink on someone elses dime? Thats why i want to call her out. Because i know damn well if someone did it to her she would have no problem calling them out!

Re: Married Ladies--Non-Gifters?
We had six no shows all from DHs side. We had a bunch of people who did not give gifts at the wedding several of them have sent gifts/checks in the mail with cards. DH did call a few of his friend b/c he thought he misplaced the cards. He is really close with them so it was not uncomfortable BUT he did feel bad after the fact.

I had quite a few no gifters, one of them my own sister. I just let it go. It wasn't even worth it to say anything. I sent a Thank You anyway.

Of people who showed up... only 1 couple didn't. Some couples gave very small gifts, but at least they recognized the event. I had a few no shows that did not send gifts. What amazed me is the amount of people who RSVPd no that didn't even send so much as a card. Granted if I RSVP no to a wedding I don't send as much as I would if I went, but I ALWAYS send a gift of some sort.

I had 2 people who didnt give a gift....and they purposly did it. It was very immature....and it really ***** when they were your 'friends'.
Its irritating, but what are ya gonna do. I just hope when they get married, the same happens to them. Karma...its a Bitchh.

LOL I just realized that I sound like a huge b!tch between my 2 posts today...
Honestly, the people who no showed bother me LESS than the people who showed and brought nada...the rest of my non gifters acknowledged not gifting and said 'we're sending checks' so we shall see...I thought 13 was a rather high number!

Re: Married Ladies--Non-Gifters?
I had 7 people not show up and none of them gave me gifts. 2 of them I work with in my classroom and see everyday so it hurts that they did not show up and still did not give me a gift. But I guess that is just how some people roll. LOL. It does suck thou... I lost almost a $1,000 for the 7 people that did not show. But it is over and done with now and I am just happy that I married my LOVE and had a wonderful wedding!!

Re: Married Ladies--Non-Gifters?
We had about 10 non gifters all were from DH's side. We just let it go, even though one was his brother and best man (and his gf), and my mil. Recently in a fight between DH and his brother it came up and he said that he was going to give us something but hasn't. We will be married 9 months in October, we still haven't received gifts from any of those non gifters. Its easier just to look at it like a loss and let it go than to ruin relationships and friendships over. JMO

Re: Married Ladies--Non-Gifters?
I had a LOT of non gifters including my cousin and husband who asked to bring her kid , one cousin who came solo, my aunt and uncle, DH's brother and his wife, and several friends. . two of my step brothers at some point I just stopped being appalled. . in the end it's about the wedding . . as far as the old 'cover the plate thing' I would say maybe we had three people who came close. .. I mean we have lots of friends who are struggling financially it has been a hard year but NOTHING kind of bummed me out. . I mean even a card with a scratch off lotto saying sorry I'm broke I love ya. . hope you win something would have been FINE
HHAHAH maybe I am not over it!

Re: Married Ladies--Non-Gifters?
There are some things you have to let go and just deal with without saying anything.
We thought we had some problems, because we didn't even get cards from 2 sets of guests and one was a really close friend and the other was a family member. So we flat out asked our close friend, because given who we didn't get a card from we were really worried that we lost those 2 cards. Turns out they forgot to bring our card, and my relative was just slow!

LOL but I didn't wait a year to give her a gift for hers!
Can't wait for the baby shower, I'm showing up with an already soiled diaper and writing on it 'get used to it'
