Married Names...

Re: Married Names...

I am taking my FH's last name - I have a 13 letter maiden name and have always said I would change it after getting married. BTW, my new last name only has 7 letters and is easier to pronounce!

I'm taking his last name but I have some anxiety about it. I've always had a very italian name and now my last name will be irish. It's going to take me a while to get used to.

I'm going from a long Italian name to a shorter German last name. It's gonna take a while to realize it won't take me 10 minutes to sign my signature! Ha Ha...
I will miss my name somewhat, because I am the last. There were no boys, and my name ends here.....

It's been a running joke since we started dating - in fact the friends that set up us said the idea started with... how funny would it be if they got together... and then they thought - wait, they'd be really good together - and it went from there... he LOVES it. He thinks it's hysterical. I kinda do too.

aww agreed.....& they lived happily ever afterrr!!!

I'm going to another Irish last name 'Brady' and it is actually my grandmother's maiden name. No relation..........believe me....I'm all over my geneology history!!!

Keep in mind that you have until the day you go for your marriage license to think about it.
Once you make the decision it will be very hard (unless you go to court and legally change it again) to change back your name.

I decided to hyphenate my maiden and married names mainly for work purporses.

Re: Married Names...

I'm keeping my maiden name at work
but legally will change it to
my first name my maiden name
(I have no middle name) and his last name.

I'm kind of sad my last name may not go much further (I only have one male relative) but his family only has two (including him).

I'm taking his last name and what a change it will be! I'm going from completely Irish to absolutely Italian. :) When we were in high school I wondered what it would be like to have such a huge name change if we wound up together... now it's exciting. I can't wait.

I'm taking FH last name although i would rather keep mines since my name sounds better with my own last name then with his

I'm taking his although I will miss my last name. BUT I am excited to become Mrs. B! His last name though is always misprounced so I have to get used to that...mine is so easy to say.
