Married - Post-wedding depression :( - Long Island Weddings
I'm so glad other brides have felt this way too. I had a lot of drama happen the week of my wedding. My Mom flew in from Ohio. She had flown from Ohio to NY with my dress before. They would not allow her to carry the dress on because it was big and she had to check the bag. She had also checked it in a bag before. American Airlines lost her suitcase. In the suitcase was my dress, her matron of honor/mob dress, her rehearsal dinner dress, her shoes and other wedding items. That was Friday a week before my wedding. On Monday, the week of my wedding, we went to RK Bridal and purchased another dress by the same designer. They could not have been sweeter to me or more understanding of my siutation at RK Bridal. They could not do the alterations, but I am very blessed and my Mom sews. She had already altered the first dress and had to alter the second one the week of my wedding. The veil she made me was also lost and we had to purchase a new one. I really kept my composure during this and kept focusing on WHY we were doing this and that it didn't matter WHAT I was wearing. At the end of the day, the new dress was just as beautiful.
But because all this happened, I feel like I was not well rested for my wedding day or the entire week. I feel like there are things I missed out on at the wedding and that we did not get to enjoy as much of it because we did some many special pictures and video shots. I hope that when we get the pictures and video it will help change my frame of mind. I have immensely enjoyed the shots my friends took of our special day and that has made me smile all the more.

Wow! I admire how you kept your composure. I would have flipped the eff out. I hope you were compensation from American Airlines.

I think it's normal for us to look back and wished some things would have gone differently. All of us on the board really do put in a lot of time planning for our weddings. I think we put in so much more time than the average bride. I think it is very rare for everything to be 100% perfect so you need to look at the overall picture. I was quite upset with the way that my flowers looked and how my family thought my makeup looked bad. But in the end, I had a great time and so did my guests. That's all that really matters. While I wasn't happy with my flowers, I'm sure everyone else thought they were beautiful.

Congratulations!! I'm sorry to hear about the bummer once it's over but I'm glad this site exists so that everyone can be open about the realities of post wedding blues!
I'm having a Hank Lane band at our wedding at The Woodlands in June so I'm happy to hear you were pleased with the band! But I'm curious/nervous that you didn't mention anything about The Woodlands, can you share how they were for your day?

Re: Married - Post-wedding depression :(
you are def not alone... 6 months later and I still think about how I would have done many things at my wedding differently.... I think its just natural since we invest so much time in it. but at the end of the day I know I had a great wedding and am so happy that I married the love of my life.

Re: Married - Post-wedding depression :(
I went through this mainly because the weather was horrible and I had a lot of outdoor components to my wedding. My theme was destination wedding in NY and picked Cresthollow for their tropical feel and with the horrible weather we didn't get to leverage the outside grounds and I felt like it completely took away from our theme. Because I was sooooo focused on the weather I didn't fully take in the rest of the moments so I regret that but I'm hoping that when I get my video I'll feel a bit better about remembering everything.
