i just signed up for a card--how exactly does it work? i selected the points section but can i also use my points for air miles? TIA!
I think that you have the option later to move the points to airline miles, but it takes time. I love having Marriott points, its great to be able to have a weekend getaway for almost free!
Somehow I ended up with a marriot visa card. You can pick points or miles and change at any time. I am actually using 60,000 of them for two nights in Amsterdam. Honestly the cash equivalent is about $400 if I booked it through expedia right now. The only problem is that most Marriotts are ok hotels. The JW Marriotts which are more luxury hotels are many more points and only in some destinations. You can also trade them in for Ritz Carlton free nights. But again, its like 65,000 a night then. So it kind of seems like a waste then. Most travelers say never to waste your points on hotel rooms and instead use it for miles. But I learned it after I booked the trip. I am actually using them this weekend. I will let you know if I have any problems.
thank you so much for this info.---i hope to be able to eventually use them for air travel!!
