matches for the bar DIY'ed

FH went to a thesis meeting with his grad school advisor & I was bored but didn't want to nap or do *real* work...used a great idea from offbeatbrides.com to turn plain matchbooks into custom-made ones.

I used the plain matchbooks, sticker paper, and a lot of patience to size everything correctly in word - but I'm really happy with the finished product

Pics in album! And if anyone's crazy enough to want to tackle this DIY I can email you the template so you don't have to spend your time figuring it out too haha

Where did you get the plain matches from? Is there much of a price difference from just getting them from somewhere like the knot? I haven't ordered mine yet, haven't found the right pattern yet.

I got 100 plain ones from Amazon for $6, and the sticker paper cost $10 I think. Quick look at the knot says they're on sale for $17 so that's about even.

I did mine myself because I don't really like too many of the options for personalization featured through the mainstream wedding places - icons are usually too cutesy for us, can't use a monogram, and I wanted something that really is as evocative of FH & I as everything else I'm doing.

The template took the longest - but once that was figured out, I'd say it took me about 1.5 hours of lazily cutting and sticking/folding to do all 100 matchbooks. I caught up on some Say Yes to the Dress I had DVR'd

They look awesome! I can agree that making a template even this simple in Microsoft Word can be a very grueling task but it really turned out amazing!
