Maternity Bras

Maternity Bras

Not that this pregnancy is really giving me a much larger size but some of my regular bras started to hurt so I purchased some inexpensive non-maternity bras in the next size up. When should I start looking into Maternity bras? Also, anyone like one brand over another? How about Nursing bras- should I buy combo ones now?

Re: Maternity Bras

I never bought a 'maternity' bra, per se. I just kept buying larger sizes of my regular favorites (Bali, Warners, etc) as my boobs grew...and grew....and grew....OK, that's enough!

I recommend holding off on buying the nursing bras until you are almost due to have the baby. This is for many reasons, but mostly - you'll want to have them fit properly and at this early stage, your body still has a ton of changing to do. For examply, your rib cage will start to widen (to make more room for baby) and this will change the size of your bra across your back. Also, you don't know how much weight you will gain or how large your boobs may aspire to be

One of my pregnancy books actually recommends buying nursing bras that you have a tiny bit of 'room' in, so that when your milk comes in and your breasts swell, you'll still be comfortable.

I remember buying a couple of them at Sears and they were very comfy.

Re: Maternity Bras

I went up 2 back sizes, (but not a cup size... weird ), and just bought larger bras. I have no intention of wearing maternirt bras or panties. I'm still in my own, my size, undies, and I hope to stay there.

Thanks girls. I was not really 'lucky' in this department before the pregnancy so I don't need any special support or anything. I just love my VS bras. I guess I will just get a few more of those till I am much further along.

Claud!!! rib cage growing ... OH GOD! Not more growth ... I don't think I can take much more of this!

I'm already up 2 FULL sizes ... and I've had to stock up on bras when they've gone on sale. I just can't see spending $25 per & I don't know how long they'll fit me!

Good advice on the nursing bras, tho. Thanks. I wasn't planning on buying them just yet, but I'll remember what you said about getting them a bit bigger. Thanks.

Re: Maternity Bras

I went up one full cup size and back size in my first trimester and am now popping out of those bras like you would not believe!! So, I need to go out and buy the next size (good God) and hope that when all is over and done, my boobs aren't hanging to my belly button anymore!!

I didn't buy any maternity bras though, just regular ones in a bigger size. I did have to get maternity underwear though -- I waited until mine couldn't stretch anymore and gave in!!! I have to say that the ones from Motherhood Maternity are VERY comfortable!!!

Re: Maternity Bras

went from a C cup to double Ds! ohmyg=d!
hurt quite a bit in the first tri. Got my regular bra but bigger size. When I was in my 3rd tri I went for nurising/maternity bras.
I love the Playtex ones cuz they are not underwire.
Got them at the bali/leggs/playtex outlet inside the source mall...right next to motherhood maternity
usually cost about $16
Cheapest, most comfortable and not bad looking.
I even have to sleep in it!

I was full figured before so VS bras always wore out on me...
I miss wearing regular bras!

Phyl, I'm afraid I sound like you!!! I went from C to D and now I'm on my way (or already there) to DD!!!

But will they stop hanging down to my belly button is the thing I'm worried about!!!
