I finally saw this over the weekend and I loved it!!! Well maybe I should say really liked it because I think it could have been done a little better but I was happy with the overall movie.

I am dying to find a transcript btwn the Oracle and Architect in the end scene...I was under the impression that they were freeing the rogue programs (which I am probably wrong)...but I know many think its all humans...which would make complete sense...if they want peace...

Am I the only person on LIW who disliked this movie to no end, the episodes 2 and 3 specifically.

Both DH and I loved the first Matrix, but felt the script for 2 and 3 was really poor...

the first one will always be superior...but if we are talking scripts...I have to disagree...look at all the hidden words...hidden answers...just the names of the characters say it all...Deus Ex Machina, Morpheus, Trinity, Neo, Persiphone, Seraph, Sati, Merovingian, I could go on and on...

I think they are going to free the humans that want out of the matrix, but what I don't understand is that people in the matrix won't know they want to be freed .

I don't think that Sati can be the next 'The One' because she was around while Neo was there. If they need The One again, they will just reincarnate Neo. The reason why Sati is still there is because she was given a purpose...to control the sun. The same reason why Smith was destroyed...because he served his purpose which was to defeat Neo.

I really liked it too...but I thought the ending could have been better.

Oracle: Well, ain't this a surprise.
Architect: You've played a very dangerous game.
Oracle: Change always is.
Architect: Just how long do you think this peace is going to last?
Oracle: As long as it can.
{Architect starts walking away}
Oracle: What about the others?
Architect: What others?
Oracle: The ones that want out.
Architect: Obviously they will be freed
Oracle: Do I have your word?
Architect: What do you think I am? Human?

hmmm...I'm still not sure it means humans...it could be the rogue programs that Merovingian keeps prisoner...

I'm not sure that Smith's purpose was to defeat Neo, but to balance him out...when Smith is deleted...Neo dies...b/c without one the other can't exist...

No. I don't mind. The answer is simple. I love my daughter very much. I find her to be the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. But where we are from, that is not enough. Every program that is created must have a purpose; if it does not, it is deleted. I went to the Frenchman to save my daughter.

In the beginning she didn't have a purpose..but at the end, she did....to control the sun. This is what her parents were hoping would happen, that she would be given a purpose so she wouldn't be deleted.

If the machines were the ones that enslaved humans and created the matrix and humans serve as their 'food', then why do machines agreed to 'release' all humans for the fear of only one program running wild!!! If machines don't have this supply of energy coming from human beings, then they'll eventually not be able to function?

I can see where you are coming from...but they (oracle and Sati) are still in the Matrix...the sun was always around in the Matrix - I think the end scene is not her controlling the sun...but manipulating the matrix b/c she is the next one...and didn't get the power until Neo died...JMO

the architect says that there are levels of survival that they are willing to accept...however with peace...the skies can be unscorched...so they can revert back to solar power (again JMHO) and Smith was the more important threat to the machines...he took over the Matrix and was trying to infiltrate the computer mainframe...so IMO he was the bigger threat to the machines...

This gives a little more info about The Matrix Online which is a multiplayer game being release next year. Gamespy.com had a story about the game and this is what the CREATORS of the game had to say about it.

'The Matrix Online takes place sometime after The Matrix: Revolutions, the third film in the series. Although they were careful not to reveal any hints of the plot of either the second or third movies, obviously at this time the Matrix still exists, although more and more people are waking up to reality and choosing up sides. Some people - called 'Zionists' after the last human city, want to break the matrix and reclaim the real world. Others, seeing the devestation of reality, cast in their lot with the machines and fight to keep humanity in their virtual prison. Deciding which side to join will be one of the first decisions a player has to make. '


so it looks like all humans are not being released....and the no ending ending was to promote this game...

I really think they left things open to have video games and possibly another movie. The movie may not be for a couple of years, maybe even 5 years when technology has developed even more.

I 100% agree that neither the 2nd or 3rd movie was as good as the first, but how could they match what they did in the first? There's no way that could meet expectations. The first movie blew us away because we had never seen anything like it in any movie before. But after the first movie everyone had questions, why did things happen, where did some people come from, what is the matrix, etc, etc. So they made two more movies to try and answer these questions for people. What happens? They get bashed for too much explanation and not enough action.

I think both movies could have been better. I think the ending could have been more than it was. But I'm still happy with everything. I'll tell you this much, I would have been more pissed if everyone lived happily ever after and Neo and Trinity were still alive. That would have been a Shi**y ending to me.

Wow, I saw the Matrix on Friday. I can't really post too much now.

But I must say I LOVED it.

The end bothered me slightly. I think it should have ended when Neo died and the guy was in Zion saying 'The war is over' What was that stupid conversation between the architect and the Oracle?

I LOVE How the Oracle let Smith take over, I knew she did it on purpose the minute it happenned.

Who is the Oracle? Why so much power? If she is just a program, why does she know so much, and why doesn't she ever die?
She knows the architect extremely well, seems they've both been around since the beginning. Is he too a program? But how can he be when he is the architect? If he's NOT a program, then neither is the Oracle?

I don't know if Neo died or not, it seemed he did, although he could be 'resurrected' at any time IMO if they want.
I don't want him to come back anyway unless they also resurrect Trinity


Also, is anyone wants to see it again, SEE IT IN IMAX - it was the BEST - I will NOT see it in regular theatre again, but I think I will watch the Animatrix, re-watch 1&2 which we own, then go see 3 again.

The oracle and the architect are both programs. They are there to balance out eachother. Kind of think of it as the architect is the father of the matrix and the oracle is the mother. Smith even referred to her as mom when they were in the kitchen.

The machines aren't who took over it was the computers. And I do not know the history to well but man created the AI and it became too powerful and caused the end of the world as we know it (hmmm REM song). THe architect created the matrix but there are rouge programs that get created on their own (like Smith) that the architect can not fully control without wiping out the whole matrix. That's why he needed Neo to kill smith.

I don't know where to get the Animatrix.

Who is the Oracle?
she is a program that helped the architect create the 2nd, 3rd, 4th...etc Matrices...she is probably the one who programmed emotions, including hate, angry, etc...but she also programmed in choice...this is something the architect did not do in the first and why it crashed


Why so much power?
she is the architects balance...if you notice her earrings they are yin and yang...she is there to try to unbalance the architects equation - so that the matrix isn't the perfect world and doesn't crash again

programs don't die...they are only deleted...and IMO the architect cannot delete her, b/c as his opposite, he would have to be deleted as well...

I'm not sure why she sees so much...Merovigian mentioned her eyes...but I am a bit unclear on this...my thoughts would be that since she helped program the matrix she knows the algorithms and what the answers would be...if the humans go along with the matrix...she cannot see beyond the choice the humans make, since they are no longer following an equation...again JMHO

essentially yes...all machines are programs...if you want to go deep...humans are too...our genes and dna are our program

b/c he is only the program that controls the Matrix...the source of power for the machines...while he is 'God' of the Matrix - to humans...i don't think he is the head of the machines...

the architect was the program/machine that created the Matrix when the humans scorched the sky and they lost solar power...his first attempt failed - b/c he made the perfect word and the humans rejected it...so another program/machine (Oracle) came to help 'unbalance' the equation...to make the world not perfect so the humans didn't reject it...IMHO the Oracle is still out for the machines...she needs the humans to stay in the Matrix and provide power, destroyed so the sky can be unscorched (but I think she starts to take a liking to them) or for there to be peace
